Yes you are right, that is why I dumped the bear bell. The incredibell is not too loud and has a rather pleasant ring...not the silver Zen like bell I want but much better than the bear bells clanking.

I was riding the single track at Turnbull down to Friends street when I came around a corner and there was 2 meditaters sitting in the middle of the trail in the lotus position chanting..has anyone else ever come across anything like that?

Bummer was they were sitting on top of a nice jump....

I don't have a bell...I just do a polite whistle and then say thank's...nice day to be outside huh...as I ride by

Bells may disturb the Zen, but Fenceline was a zoo this weekend!
I'm going to have to visit REI too.

I have a bell from REI and the noise doesn't bother me. I have it on in places such as Aliso as well as outback areas (Colorado etc). Hikers and others have thanked me for having the bell.

I have bells on all of my bikes. I have my trusty CORBA bell on my mountain bike along with a bear bell that I only use at night.

LOL REI...I got my annual dividend check today. $5.

Don't cats chase balls with bells in them? At night, wouldn't we look like giant toys w/ bells & crazy lights? I prefer to go stealth at night and let my survival depend on how well I oiled my chain.

Cool Winger, you can afford a bear bell and a cliff bar - what'd that $5 cost you, about $4000 in spending at REI?

Er, you don't grip with your thumb? What're you? Some kind of monkey?

That's my point, though. To get at the bell, I have to move my thumb which means I'm not *really* gripping the bar anymore.

Maybe I should look at the pic again, but it looked standard to me.

*Edit*

Nope, I looked at it again. The dinger for the bell is still over the top of the bar. You do have to pull your thumb up to ring it. That, by definition, is changing your grip.

You owe me a dollar for being wrong and misleading. I accept credit and checks.

Is it seriously? I couldn't tell. I looked at it and tried to picture my hand on the grip. If it *is* upside-down then that's misleading too and he owes me two-dollars plus an apology.

Took picture from the front of the bike so you could read CORBA. A little gorrilla marketing for trail maintenance.
