Just a head’s up for those of you linking rides up Mt. Pacifico in the Angeles National Forest.. The dirt road is washed out ¼ mile up from its junction with the Sulphur Springs Road (on the east side of the mountain).
The wash-out drops nearly 50’ vertical feet, followed by another several hundred foot chute you’d tumble down if you fell into it. Hikers have tip-toed the dirt slopes above the drop, but it’s dicey. Only other option for ascending Mt. Pacifico from the east is the Pretty Cool Trail (which – as you know- is off limits to bikes). Be nice if the Forest Service fixed the wash out, but I’d bet it could be years. Or never. Anybody know how long this section of road has been washed out? |

I think it's the same one we seen one day as we were walking that trail you speak of. There was a ranger there at the time and he told us the plan was to fix all going north/south trails and then they'd start on the east/west trails. He also told us it would be at least 2 years before they started to work on the toll rd.
