Default Loma Linda/Hulda Crooks Park

saw this on geoladders, since its only like 10 min from my house i couldnt resist. anyhow, i read on some other site that there is some crazy old man who chases MTB'ers down. heard he also carries a gun.. i decided to try it out anyhow. rode up the fire road/ double track to the hike-a-bike, as i crested the top there was a HUGE downed sign in yellow and black that read "private property-no trespassing". this sign had been down for a while, wood looked rotted out and sign was barely readable. again, i decided to go on. climbed th enext ridge and hung a left, looked into the "jedi" entrance. there again was a sign "no trespassing" affixed to a pipe gate that was open. sign looked in great shape. well since i went that far i cranked the ipod and blasted down, hoping not to encounter a disgruntled property owner. as i got back to the split between the jedi and the hike-a-bike i realized that there was NO house or anythign within sight, where does this old man come from? does he just hang out in the hills or what!? i dont plan on riding the trail again until i hear something from someone about there not being a gun toting man lurking the trail. anyone know the status of this trail, atleast the upper part where the signs are/were? the way donw is a blast, all kinds of hips and doubles to blast. oh yeah i met KIRT VOREIS @ the bottom doing a photo shoot. i stopped and watch him blast this hip a few times. he was like "was that good?" i said "yeah it wasnt bad" i, at the time, had no idea who he was. after his photographer said "that was a good shot, kirt" i still didnt know, not until i got to the parking lot and saw this van with his name and sponsors on it. called a friend, he informed me hes infact a very established rider whose been on the scene for quite some time. thankfully i didnt say "yeah that looked real good, you should go pro or something!" so yeah if you know anyhting about this trail let me know, i dont wanna get pac'ed/biggie smalls'ed/killed. thanks.

Default You've got...

nothing to worry about. Supposedly the land owner used to be a little hard to deal with. He as an old guy who lived back in the canyon or something. Anyways, he's long gone. I know many people, including myself, who have riden this area 1-2 times per week for the last few years and have never needed to dodge bullets.

Keep going, it's a fun place to ride.

i heard/read about the old guy, but i had rode the trail a few times last year and never seen nor heard anything about the guy, nice little trail that you can get up and down in less than an hour, but its too fun to do only once
