Default Downhill Race Southridge today

Just a huge CONGRATULATIONS....I believe every STR rider racing today hit the podium either way just an inspiration that you raced. Nam sped his way to 2nd his first race and Ryan nailed 1st. Jason 4th and a few more...ALWAYS so much fun watching the DH races especially the little kids rocket down the mountain!!
You guys did great today...

thanks for the congrats sharky, was a good day. finished first after blowing the first few corners(the simpsons made me nervous) haha. made up most of the time on the wall and access road, just geared down and spun. course felt pretty good, just kept it flowin.(thanks for the suggestion J!) nice meeting a few new people(shaggin wagon, TK), and seeing the rest of you. see you all next race! stoaked.

OHHHH YEAH!

Even though this was only Ryan's second race, I am now referring to him as the in house sandbagger here at STR! Great job everyone! I'm going to go get some much needed rest now.

first off, thanks for everyone that wished me luck and give me pointers. Everyone i met over the weekend was super nice and cool, its hard to not have a good time. I got some good practice runs in and thought i got most of the track down good enough to finish it. When i found out it was only going to be one run, i said to hell with it and decided i was gonna go for broke. Sure enough i was going at a good pace up top and blew through a turn, took out the marking stick then went down towards the last rock face and just did a pretty fast/hard crash. Jumped back on the bike with crooked ass bars and continued to hammer away. Holy crap! i've never been so exhausted in my life. i was in pain and couldn't even stand up on my bike, but just kept pedaling as hard as i could. I'm happy with taking 2nd, but i'm mad at myself for crashing. I really want to know what/how i would have done with a clean run.

anyhow, ryan.... you freaking KILLED it today dood. 3:08 isn't too far off from what the pro's were running... Jason, didn't see you today but good to hear you did well. Ran into Mosh today as well, i don't remember your name sorry dood! Good seeing dirty, franky, shaggin, chris and aldo.

bret, there were 6 peeps in my class a hole!

ok, time for cold meds and pain killers cause my thigh is sore as f*ck

I had a blast tkblazer was the only str guy I ran into today good to meet you Nam. my last practice run was my best run of the weekend. my race run I blew a few corners dapped a couple times and came unclipped jumping a couple rocks. but was very happy with the bike. I caught a guy on the wall he looked back started to pull over to let me by then looked again and started to hammer the peddles I ended up getting around him just before the finish. my class (27-34 sport) is going to tuff this year I did 3:30 and got 12th of 21 guys. good job to everyone who podiumed this weekend.

Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend. BTW, Ryan's time of 3:08 would of been good enough for 3rd in EXPERT CLASS! I didn't race but I ended up taking over photo duties for my friend Rick. His website is www.lensarteacephotos.com. I got shots of everyone from letter H to Z's, including tkblazer's spectacular crash. Shoot me a pm with your plate # and I'll see about getting the STR guys a free digital pic. It was cool to get to watch the race for once and hang out with you Sharky.

That was a hard hit you took with the carnage to show for it...I say we blame Frank for the blinding camera flash J/K...you had some major speed going coming down that hill !! Nice job.

Thanks Frankie for adding my "quote of the day" in your sig...took me a sec to figure out why you were laughing

sherbak-bert, you have to come out next time, are you challenging me to a dual??? because im willing to bet your faster, maybe because youve done this before? ltmq.. im going to try my same tecnique next race, not practice the day before, wake up late and not bring any gear.. haha. worked well. gonna race beginner this series. i have a feeling me and the guy who got 2nd are gonna have a battle, he fell TWICE and got 2nd, although it was 24 or so seconds after me. i must step up the running and XC, gotta keep it @ full kill on the wall. BTW, are we allowed to use ipods or other MP3 devices while racing??? hey frank, my number was 305 Y.
