Default Trail Work Report, Mt. Zion

We have declared our work on Zion as completed. 7 of us left the parking area together and were later joined 5 more straglers. Our own Sharky and MTBRacer made special guest appearances. Chris like many people who ride this loop the first time declared it her favorite new trial. Special thanks to Angel, she drove down from Ventura to join us. Also there is a new tree across the trail since the last time we did maintaince, we did some branch work to help get under it..it will probabily be there for a long time to come.

The last pics are me playing around the my new tripod trying to get some pictures in the low light canopy. What seemed to work was to set the camera menu to nightime, does a decent picture as long as there is no movement.

Anyways you all need to mark your calenders for February 4th and come enjoy the loop with us. BBQ at the Pack Station afterwards.

PS: I have no comments on the picture I took of Scott and Chris, she seems to be hichhiking and he well?

The front side looks great thanks to everyone put in their hard work. The latest winds blew down this huge tree on the backside down to Sturtevant blocking the trail. We had to practically crawl underneath to get through.

I could of rode underneath it!

Today was family day. I almost made it out the door, but got caught by my son who just looked at me and said, "I thought today we were just going to goof off together". Well, that did it.

THANKS for the work on this trail and that was hella fun coming back down the back side...definitely my favorite can't wait to get back up. Sorry late due to work so didn't help as much as I'd have liked but I know how much everyone apreciates the work you've all done. I believe that was a look of "how dare she wear lycra" after putting on so many pounds over the holidays. J/k
Soooo good to be back riding again..had a busy a** month of work.
Great meeting you all. Fun group...

Many many thanks to those that came out to help finish our work on the Mt. Zion Trail! Looking back at the photos we did some really nice work. There were several familiar faces and several new faces this time. Great to meet new folks every time.

My bike with trailer all ready to go: 2 McLeods, 2 Pulaskis, 1 6' pole saw cut into 2 3' sections.

Hans ready to roll with his trailer loaded with gas powered hedge trimmer, 1 McLeod, and 1 lopper:

Scott (AKA stjunkie) ready to go as well loaded with 2 McLeods and 2 Pulaskis:

The next few photos show some nice tread work to help widen the trail. The vegetation is still a bit close but the tread looks great:

Here are before and after photos Hans took of the same section.

Thanks to everyone that came out and helped to get this Trail done. It is now looking really good! I look forward to riding it without the B.O.B. trailer on 2/4. I hope to see you all there!

I posted a before and after shot of one section of the Trail we worked on the CORBA site here: CORBA: The Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association - Preserving and Increasing Mountain Bike Access to the Trails of Los Angeles and Surrounding Areas, through Education, Information and Conservation.
