All the snow disappeared over night, clear skys, short sleaved jersey for me. Larry in bed all day with some kind of bug. That left Sara, Lynn, Scott, Nick and I to ride. Another big loop somewhere between 20-25 miles. Some new dirt for me in the Carrol Canyon Area, across Budda Beach to Templeton up Llama, more new dirt for me Chapel Trail. And one trail we all agreed on...pavement to Circle K for coffee and food.
I am taking tomorrow off to take care of family and businees stuff. Our last day to ride on this road trip will be Monday..they are thinkin' Spruce Mountain here in Prescott...kind of on there way back to LA. I have not ridin the Spruce Mountain Loop in 2 years, the reason is it was the hardest nastyest climb I ever did... I said to self...never again. This may be the most miles I have put on in 6 straight days. More than the miles it is the shear effort put forth to ride these trails.

They are called cairins (sp). They direct you where to go as the trail is not always obvious and it saves time and the enviorment not to be riding off trail in some areas.
Yeah, ol Scotty has a way of peddaling your legs off doesn't he? Maybe that's why I always enjoy his rides so much. Did you realize it's only a couple months till the spring fling and then I'll finally be back out there? Is it to soon to start counting the days? Good shots again, Dean. |

This trip was a BLAST! Nothing beats it (save for CO perhaps)! I'm sick and exhausted, but it was so worth it. There are so many techy sections to get over out there; it wears you down. But it keeps things interesting, as do those killer views!
Today I gave in and road a geared, full-s bike. I don't regret riding the geared bike today, but I have to say that riding those trails on a single-speed hardtail is fricking awesome (especially in muddy/snowy conditions wherein shifting becomes a problem). Plus, there's so much nar on the trails you have to middle-ring everything anyway just to get over it. Thanks Dean, Scott, Lyn, Larry and Nick for a great time! You all were awesome company, and I wouldn't have wanted to spend my break any other way. Dean, give Larry my get well wishes! It looks like I may be joining him in sickness ... |

Remember he is an Attorney...I smell a libel suit in the works.
See we told ya that your vegie diet would get to ya! You need meat on the trail, the longer it is in your Camelback the better it gets.

Many, many moons ago there was a young scout named Falling Rock. When Falling Rock never returned from his vision quest the other scouts went looking for him, but they never found him. While they were out looking they didn't have any street signs so they piled rocks to remind others to "Look out for Falling Rock"
