Default RR: Sedona Day 4

Another excellent day in the snow....trails here very ridable when wet. Did another 20 something mile loop...the classic Mystic, Broken Arrow, Submarine Rock, Chicken Point, Wild Horse, Llama Loop. Sun poked through when briefly when we got to Chicken Point.

Sara stayed on for another day and we talked her into staying again for tomorrow. Nick did show up last night and it is always good to have Nick on a ride he does some fearless stuff on a bike. In the pics, it is Nick climbing that ledge in one pic then in another rolling down that slickrock. Once committed to that drop there was no stopping. It is also his bike in the bush at the end of the slickrock...he could not blead enough speed at the end of the drop and did a flying vault over his handlebars and that dead bush at the bottom. The man has the ballance of a cat.

I so wish that more of you guys could of made it out here. Great easy paced rides with good people. Riding Sedona in the snow is like being in a dream. I ride Sedona alot but never has it been as enchanting.

I am very happy to see you guys putting toghter some excellent local rides...I am also pround to see my OC Bros branch out and ride some new dirt.

Later Dean

Luck has nothing to do with it, I just put a higher value on MTBing than making money.

I know I run the risk that my posts might seem that I am rubbing it in. It is just my passion for riding and wanting to get people out into new areas to ride. There are some incredable places to ride that are a half days car ride away. I will go explore these places solo, many are not comfortable riding alone that is why I encourage you all to join us. Then you can pass on your trail knowlegde to someone else. I plan on having more memories than money by the time I get to old to ride.

I am sure I will through out some other roads trips before this summers Lake Tahoe trip. I really want to do a Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Brians Head biking/camping trip this spring.

Oh yeah, that rock Nick is riding down looks like a freekin cliff when you're up top. I'm serious, it looks like it's straight down.

Mike how do you like that look on Scott's face. Pretty darn good camera work...yeh! I won't even huck it and he does not even look where he is going to land.

Don't you realize he's been jumping that ledge for the last 4 years straight? He better have it down by now. Still very funny pic, seems like he's saying "Who me?".

Now if you'll excuse me for a little while, I think I'll go back to my dark room and cry so more. sniff, sniff.

Oh, no, not for me, I don't think you're "rubbing it in." Dude, no. And, yes, you are lucky. I don't care how you put it. But, me, I like these posts. I "thank" each one! I love those pics and I can't wait to ride places like that. Maybe not this year or next, but one day, I will get to ride places like Sedona and Utah. Oh yes, one day.

I, too, am lucky. I'm lucky to be able to ride at all. I'm lucky to have four beautiful kids and a great wife. Those are priorities, too. So, maybe I don't mean "lucky" as in how fate has deemed you worthy. But, all I'm saying is that I think it's so awesome that you get to ride out there. I feel like I was lucky to get to ride the Merril trail and El Prieto, etc. earlier this week. But, what I really mean when I say I'm lucky is that I'm grateful I got to do it because so many people don't. They don't have the money to buy a mtb or know the trails are there or have cool people like the one's on this site to show them around, stuff like that. There's a certain amount of "luck" in that, I think.

It was very steep and a long ride down. He spent a good deal of time hunting for a decent line. I rode down below and pointed out the better lines. From the top he could only see drops and could not tell how tall they were. Scott and I told him there was no way he was going to stop before the bushes, but he was determined to do it anyway. He planned on this Superman flying dismount. I wish he would of told me before of his plans, I would have taken a video of it.

Remember that Nick is doing this on his Truth...a 27 lbs xc-race bike on wet slickrock.

Sauce is kicking butt on her singlespeed but she is paying the price....Sedona is not like So-Cal. Those of you that ride with her know that she has to try every section until she can conquer it. Well that is OK when you ride trails that have a tough tech climbs here and there. She is learning that there is a new section to sesson around every turn in Sedona and if you go all out on each one you will not have anything left after 20 miles.
