Default RR: Blue Ridge, Wrightwood

Spent a couple of days with my sister in Pinon Hills. My sister, her husband and my nephew all ride mountain bikes, but when I told them I was going snow riding they all though it would not be fun...so again I rode alone.

I parked in Wrightwood and took Highway 2 to Inspiration Point then turned of on Blue Ridge Truck Trail. I love to ride the snow when the snow conditions are good and the snow was in decent shape. The crunchy snow was ridable uphill because Mountain High had drove the Snow Cat up the road and It made for excellent traction. The road after that was that dry squeaky snow that you have to pedal in even going downhill. Some of the snow drifts were too deap not ridable. I had forgotten that the road crosses one of Mountain Highs Ski Runs so I turned around there. Not sure if they would appreciate me on their groomed slopes.

My 2.5 Kenda's Nevegal and Blue Groove worked better that any other tire I have used in the snow...they even gripped the ice well.

I really do like riding in the snow...if snow was around more often I would for sure be buying a Pugsly.

Yes that Singletrack is PCT and no I did not poach it.

Dean

Man, I wish I was there. That looks like alot of fun. I have some friends that live in pinon hills and phelan. It's a blast riding dirt bikes in that stuff too. When people at mountain high see us they wonder what in the world are they doing. Oh, and your right Dean, turns out they don't like it when you ride on the slopes.

I understand there is a push to open some of the PCT to mtb'ers. I was told the forsetry service is sponsoring this. I hope it's true.

Some one should use it. In the winter, the parts up near Isip saddle see maybe a couple of hikers a month.

nice photos. i used to ride in the snow quite a bit back east. somehow it was more fun in the low elevation woods than atop the SA's with the wind blowing

btw- you leave that bike laying there too long and someone's gonna jib/tailslap that rig
