Angry DelCerro ramps

Someone is removing the wooden ramp at DC. Went out this morning and the first section has had the ladder jump taken out, not even a scrap of wood was left behind. That sucks. One of the few places we can ride hard and someone has to screw with it.

that sucks. when someone cant ride something they think it's OK for them to tear it down or reroute a trail around a section they cant do. Next these guy's will want are trial's paved. IF YOU CANT RIDE IT. WALK IT. LEARN HOW TO DO IT. OR STOP RIDING. is this the jump they took out? If it was. there was a way around.

We see this happen again and again. When you build or know about a jump, ramp, ladder or any other man made stunt and you know that the land managers probilbly did not put it there, don't take pictures and talk about it on the internet. When these things get popular they get torn down. Remember Fight Club Rules.

I doubt if some MTBer that could not ride it tore it down...more likely land managers or hikers that have a gruge against us. Takes some work to pack the wood out..or a key to the gate.

well not to rain on your happy happy but.....
NON of those stunts should have ever been there anyway. Do you guys have any idea how close that place was / is to getting closed down to MTB? Well I'll tell ya. It's real close.

That's a multi use park, not a downhill park. No one runs bear bells on their bikes. Not many check up before going around corners or look before hitting a jump or drop. Take out someone's kid that's out there or someone on a horse and it will be all over for all of us.

Tell you the truth, I am surprised that jump was there as long as it was. Wood ramps, ladders, etc. tend to be removed from these places quickly. Much better to build them from dirt, however. If they get too big, they usually get knocked down as well.

So when are we going to build the STR Monster Park?

dstepper and spookydave are correct. I wonder if there is a way to get with the land managers to build something where not to many hikers or equestrian riders go. just a thought.

How close was it? I remember reading a post years ago about Palos Verdes being closed off to mountain bikers, which is why I've avoided that area until recently when I noticed the ride reports here on STR.

Does anyone know who works on the trail? Is there some sort of MTB club that handles Del Cerro? Now that we're getting some help from nature it'd be a good time to build or at least do some trail maintenance.

I think CORBA is trying to insert themselves into the process down there. They have had at least one work day down there if I remember correctly. You could hit up the CORBA site and sign up for email notification when events are scheduled at Del Cerro.

Default my new rant

That's better than. I went to the hb wet lands to check out the jumps. to see that everything is gone. looks like some new homes will be coming in soon to look over the oil field. these jumps have been there for over ten years and where off to the side. the only problem with them was the 50's that would come out and destroy the jumps. Sorry about the rant but all the kids that I've seen ride there have no where to ride.

slater jumps have been gone for at least 6 month's. this was on the west side of the water channel. it's been awhile since I've been to either. sheep or hidden valley. but both are really steep or to big for me. I have two years before I get to move out of state. Hopefully I will be able to have some property to build some jumps and stunts on.
