Default RR: Lucas Rocks the Red Dirt

Where: Oak Creek Village, Arizona
Trails: Llama, Wild Horse, Broken Arrow, and Mystic.
Riders: Lucas, Steve (Lucas’s father) and I.

After a couple of days of trying to work out a trip to Sedona we finally hooked up today. Lucas was riding very well and was clearing most everything. We did a 15-mile loop and were out on the trail about 2 ½ hours. Elevation gain, not much, just lots of up and downs that wears you down. I got one flat and Lucas’s rear shock was toast by the end of the ride. Lucas was commenting on how different the trails are out in Arizona than at home…that they are. They don’t get as much use so they are not blown out. The horse people are nice and many more female riders.

After much exploring in the Prescott area I have found a most excellent downhill…no not that crazy Mingus Mountains downhill, but a Mt. Pinos/McGill Trail type downhill. I rode it as an out and back yesterday. I did not bring my GPS so I am guessing one-way 10-12 miles and 3-4000 foot elevation gain. Singletrack all the way down, buff and narrow, with a few skree fields and rock gardens thrown in to keep things interesting. Starts near the top of Spruce Mountain and comes all the way back into Prescott. Now I got to sweet-talk someone into dropping me off up top tomorrow.

Yes those girls were alot of fun. Two from Germany the other from Russia. They planted themselves with a good view of a gnarly downhill rockgarden and were teasing the people that did not clean it.

Yes! I got teased.

They were a little evasive in that area. They said they did with a giggle.

Nice ride report. We had fun on Broken Arrow when we were there even though my legs were toast after 4 days of riding.

Lucas brother, nice job in the rocks.

So did anyone invite the Euro girls for a Pepsi after the ride?
