Default Mt Baldy Turkey Day RR [o]

Well today was the annual turkey day ride that goes up to sunset peak and heads all the way down to La Verne. It was my first time riding it and it was a great ride. It was a bit chilly in the morning but as soon as we started to climb the cold weather was nice. The climbing part was short and there was a nice long downhill at the end. There were a couple crashes since some sections of the downhill were rocky. Just lots of babyheads spread across the trail. A great ride! Mileage came in at about 15 miles.

Just remember youll be gaining back those calories.

What we're thankful for.

Soft turn

Radio towers

Gate at the bottom

Yeah we had a great time too. We raced going down (instead of up) and it was really fun except when those two kids passed me and all I could do was choke on their dust. Got home a little late, but didn't get into to much trouble as there were others that were later then me.

Was it a small turnout this year overall? They usually have well over 100 riders.
Past article: Mountain bike action

Wouldn't this make a great night ride with all the views and a full moon

Good times on this ride. The downhill was fun and fast, if a little loose in places. Personally, I took it easy. My freakin' front tire washed out if loose dirt even looked at it funny. So, not wishing to crash and then have to drive 2 hours in pain, or worse, I didn't push it. Had a great time, though. Some really great views from this fire road. It was a tremendously beautiful day, as well. I was moved by the moment up at the top as we all talked about what we were grateful for. So many talked about their families and significant others who allow us all to ride. Others talked about their health allowing them to ride. In all, you could tell, people loved their families and their bikes. Probably in that order, but who can say?

It's only sad if you're sad about it. I judge no one. (That you know of)

Actually it was a big turnout. I waited for my friend (about 45 minutes) and saw a grip of riders comming up. People were comming late, I would say at least 75 riders.

Yeah, what happened to you guys? We waited as long as we could and I thought you'd be right behind us. Anyways I still managed to be late getting home, but not to bad.

Waited for you guys but never saw you , had a great downhill.
The turn out was a bit less than last year. Last year was a bit over 100.
The only time I ride this thing is on turkey day. Have ridden it other times and been bored to death. Must be the company.
