A little dab will do me
|
Man O man was it a fun day.
I had a thread in the trail head until I pulled it after requests to keep the group size small. Well every one of those guys who wanted a small group backed out fairly close to the ride. So in a nut shell I now feel bad about pulling the thread. I'll never do that again. Anyway I hope the school papers, honey do's, c. service and trail work all got done. Because I'm telling you right now you missed a fanstic day of downhilling! Tunnel - Chunky monkey - nuff said! Oh wait, the 2 bikini chicks were nice to see on the trail also. Cold Springs - Flow, chunk, flowey chunk, nice flow under the trees, stream crossing and even a set of stair to finish it off. We wore bells, we were super nice to all hikers. We picked the right day to do it. I think part of the reason we only saw one other bike the entire day was due to the Fontana race. 4 riders: A few crashes but nothing major. No bike problems at all. Not even a single flat! I fell in love with my Brooklyn again. That bike is totaly silent (other then the bell attached to it). Even blasting through some super chunk the only sound it makes is the tires hitting the rocks. No squeeks, no creeks and not even any chain slap. And with it's long wheel base, girth and super plush squish squish it was a very stable and comfy ride. In closing, I want to go back asap! |

I am 1 of the said 4 riders / drivers . All the pics and video I see of this place don't do it justice. Both of these trails are gnarled......but I had a grin from ear to ear the whole way down both. I have pretty much gone away from riding DH and more to riding long XC rides, so it was nice to get the Bullit out and put it through some abuse. Glad to see the old skills have not diminished. Had one stupid crash about 5 min. into Tunnel.....which Spooky then decided that me and my bike off the side of the trail were not enough, so he added his to the mix. I tell ya....it is a little unnerning seeing a 50+ lbs Dh bike come cartwheeling down at you.![]() . Otherwise Tunnel was great. Most of the hikers we came up upon were really nice. One hiker wanted to be hostile.......but we were too nice to him and he couldn't get it out....but he kept trying.![]() Coldsprings was a more fun all around trail. Spooky's description is pretty good. However, the chunk on Coldsprings is worse than Tunnel, but there is more flowing singletrack in between. Made all of Coldspring with only 3 dabs. We just about beat the shuttle truck back down to the bottom. All in all it was a great day out there. Sucks you all missed it. ![]() mtnbikej Quote:
