Default Southridge Races RR and results

Just a few quick pics starting on todays XC race. B-rad placed 3rd (well I believe he placed 2nd ... but no complaints from him) Mucho fun !! Many riders talked about the sandy areas causing problems on the course. Met some great people and talked bikes with a few of the female winners. Good meeting Ryan and hanging with CC (with her saweeet new mean green machine) and the Dirty for awhile. Pics: Frank (mtbracer) there for DH practice. We'll get some good action shots tomorrow. #2: Brandon (b-rad) coming in on his last lap then at the podium.

Just a report as a spectator at today's Downhill race. I've gained a new respect for DH racers. They have to be the toughest Motha Huckers around!! A few of us from STR set ourselves at the toughest section of downhill where they had to fight a steep line through rocks and large boulders at a good pace and we saw many riders go down and HARD. We knew many of those guys were hurtin bad after bashing their bodies against those boulders but every one got up and finished. Exciting as hell to watch this race... I caught a great pic of Ryan (FyrFytrRyn) midair through there but for some reason my cell phone saves a second later so sorry the pic sucks...would have been a good one. His first race and it was his day in more ways than one but will let him post but damn if he wasn't flying through that section like he'd done it a hundred times. He has the skills to be a regular at the podium for many races to come and CONGRATS to his 5th place against some tough competition!! (sorry bout the bad pics. Need to buy camera) Pic #1: Ryan just past a great shot catchin' air. #2: Ryan at Podium (way to rule the course today) #3: Frank hittin the gnarly section !!

Default first race.

well, today was pretty f***ing impressive. ran about 8 runs yesturday, some with jason, chris, joe, frank and rob. got the practice down. got there a bit early this morn and took a run with rob. had a good feeling about the race during practice, felt flowy and quick. well, race time came and i left the gate @ full kill, no falls, not even any uncertainty until the lil' flat section after the first GNAR rock downhill, i had practiced my line through there SEVERAL times but ended up blasting almost every rock on the section and losing speed while catching air, i just wished i could heve kept my old line, it was just to powdery and f'ed up after everyone else went. other than that no complaints at all, super stoaked to hit the podium (i wasnt aware they awarded 5th place!).. really nice meeting you brandon (b-rad) and seeing you again sharky . most of you disappeared before something miraculous happened, but frank and brandon witnessed this... i won the forks in the raffle, awwwwww yeah! again, super stoaked for today. id like to thank my sponsors... wait, i dont have any, lol. thanks to all of you who were there rootin me on, major help and its much appreciated, i expect chris (dirttorpeedo) to give me a "keep the f***ing bike on the ground!" next time something like that happens, it was the diff. between 5th and 4th today. thank you j, for giving me a great introduction to DH my first time, it was a plesant exp. and after today im hooked. killer job ROB! you were killin it today, imagine if you didnt have anything mechanical happen. again, thanks for your encouragement friends, see you @ the next race! heres some PICS!

I was totally bummed that I did not get to race, crashed pretty hard in practice Saturday, my knee's pretty swollen. I was really liking this course, and think I could've done well, but that's racing. Still, it was very cool to see Rob, Ryan and Frank out there. I met Brandon on Saturday, nice job rockin' the lycra. Good job to everyone, very cool to see Ryan totally getting hooked on racing, I know the feeling, you're just fortunate you're not married, racing really gets in the way of a good marriage, or is it the other way around? Here's a couple of pictures, Ryan and Frank at the finish line.

I was having a good run from the top section through the S turns until I clipped a pole with my handle bar and went down just before the 1st rock garden. I shut it down since my race was done at that point but still managed to finish 10th out of 13.

He did get 2nd in DH, and they have him at 3rd, out of 3, in Super D. Not too sure about the Super D times, I was at the finish, and times don't really match up with how people finished, but Joe wasn't worried about it, he was just happy to get down in one piece!

brandon, its not the ti, the only diff between the 2 is that the ti has integrated stem and a ti spring. if i keep it ill buy the integrated stem thingy.

Well ryan, I can tell you that they are good forks, and may even feel better than your 888, especially since they will have compression adjust and whatnot. I would not give up the Marz though. Sadly, the travis has quite the reputation of blowing up. Although apparently so does your 888..

well, see, my 888r has reb. and compresson., this travis only has reb and "bottom out adj." i guess thats their compression. i just like how my 888 is a moto style, and how my reb. doesnt hang out on the bottom of the fork, begging to get ripped off. after messing with my oil levels and weights in the 888 im REALLY happy with it, especially after dealing with marz's people, really good service. ive heard nothing but bad news about man's service, i heard that when u ride the travis in competitive DH, thats when they grenade. thats why im looking into building a decent AM bike around the fork, so it doesnt see such hars abuse.. btw, i really like your zion.
