Hey Ryan; If your in doubt just put the Man. up for sale on ebay or a local list some guy will buy it and its pretty much free money for your next build and I think you will be happier with another Zokes.

Ryan, I would have to agree with Rob, speaking from past experience with Manitou's.

To those that raced or just wanted to see some pics of the same spot on the course over and over again, a guy off Ridemonkey put up something like 1300 pics from Sat/Sun practice as well as the race. Odds are you're in there. SmugMug - PhotoTurbo : Southridge Challenge DH Race, Fontana Sun 11/19/06 is from the race on Sunday. Hopefully there are some of Ryan as I think it'd be pretty cool to have something to remember your first DH attempt by... Especially since you did so well.

The classes listed at the top of the page are "clickable", and go directly to the start of each class.

I would have liked to move around the course, but then I would have missed riders and I wanted to get everybody. I think I missed three and tossed three blurred shots, so I got everybody but six or so.

Mosh1DH, I can go through them pretty fast (on my hard drive) - looks like there's only one photo of you from Saturday practice (did you practice Sunday?).

IMG_3501, here's the direct link: PhotoTubo.com - powered by smugmug

You have that...*cue "eye of the tiger" music*...look, lol.

MTBracer, actually I think the one you have there is from practice, this one is from the race: IMG_4596 (direct link PhotoTubo.com - powered by smugmug )

This was my first DH race, and I learned a lot. I should have gone out there for the practice on Saturday, as I was only able to get one run in on Sunday morning before the racing started. I also learned to check the ETA lever on my fork before starting a run. I guess it got flipped when I took my bike out of the truck, but I ended up doing my practice run with about 30mm of travel up front. It was squirrelly to say the least.

Got that fixed before my race run. I figured I'd just try to have a clean run and not worry about totally pinning it. It went well for the first half of the course...

But it didn't last.

It took me way too long to get going again. I smacked my face into the ground pretty hard, and I was a little disoriented when I got up. I didn't even realize at first my front wheel was turned around the wrong way. I guess I'll have to get some dc forks to keep that from happening again.

Finally got going. Couldn't really see out of my goggles now coated with dirt. Tried to make up some time along "the wall" but it turned out I had hit my rear derailleur on a rock, and it wouldn't shift, so I was spinning my brains out and not making up much time. It was cool how encouraging all the spectators were. It gave me some extra energy when they were yelling "PEDAL!" and "ONLY 30 MORE SECONDS!" at me.

Made it through the lower rock garden without incident.

Despite not doing as well as I had hoped, it was still a good time. I'm looking forward to doing a few of the winter series in Jan-Feb.

My girlfriend tried her first DH race too. Unfortunately not much competition in her age group (beginner or sport).
