In all the races I've done, I've only caught the guy in front of me twice. Fortunately, both times I was yelling from pretty far back letting them know I was coming, and they moved to the side. If you're getting passed by a guy that started 30 seconds after you, you can pretty much know you're not going to win, or even get on the podium. I have heard some bad stories though, about guys who think they're still in contention. Usually, all the guys I race with at least, we're all talking to each other and joking around before the race, people are pretty cool for the most part.

good to know. i definitly wouldnt block a guy who is obviously faster than me, but im not gonna hop off the trail and risk unnecessary personal injury. is there safe to pass spots marked off? or is it all marked off tight like that?

Some spots are wide enough where you can move over and let the guy behind you through, except if you're going through one of the rock gardens. It's very hard to catch someone on the top of the hill unless they crashed along the way. Most guys make up lots of time on the wall sprint to the finish.

im goin for sure saturday, i only ride bikes with engines on sunday..lol. i might go sunday, depends on the time.
