Ok Schecky, you wanted photos, here they are. We got up there Friday night, a little later than expected because of LA traffic. First up Saturday was Cannell Plunge. It was my second time on it and Ann's first. The climb up was easy since we've been training for CC. We had a group of 20 riders which kept the pack together and the weather was fantastic. Low 80's coming down and a bit chilly at the top. Cannell is in great shape, the Plunge down was just a little loose, I'd say most of the trail is well packed. Sunday, we rode Alta Sierra, I remember this ride kicking my ass last year because my butt was so sore. This time, I was smart enough to leave a car at the post office. Boy was it easy (cardio wise) and Just Outstanding is a beautiful trail. Check out the Manzanita Tunnel Ann's riding through.
We met some fantastic people at the Festival. Everyone was friendly and it was all about the rides. Oh yeah, the photo of the trials rider is him clearing 3ft. I'll try to load the video of it. Lastly, I saw Mike (Pain Freak) and met STjunkie. They were on the longer rides and the Sunday Cannell ride had 70 riders! Mike was the 3rd one down, atleast that's what he told me. I believe him cause when we were driving home, I still saw people coming down the mtn. Well that's it, I highly recommend going to the Festival next year. |

Really nice seeing you out there Andy. As always this place never disappoints. I was the third down out of 67 (it wasn't a race ,but you couldn't have convinced that of the guys out front) and I caught the last 2 on the street to the campground.LOL. St Junkie had stopped to take pix and Jfsh was leading the ride and could of passed me anytime he felt like it. My main purpose was to get into the showers before all those other riders showed back up.
The guy doing the bunny hop was not clipped in and he did this over and over again. Very talented. MRA always drops us off at this area which cuts off a few hours of riding. When we got back down we all kind of felt cheated, like we didn't get enough riding in. Oh well, it was still a blast. The ground cover has all turned SoCal brown now, but it's still very pretty up there. We did the Badger Gap ride on Saturday and it was a longer ride. One of our group(Vic) had it at 37.5 miles. I got cramps in my quads (I was told I got them from not being clipped in) and had a tough go of it for a while. But finished strong because of some kind people from ROMP.org, a mountain biking club from the bay area with over 400 members. They had 5 or 6 women there riding with us. Good times and good trails and good people what more could you ask for???

If you look real hard you can spot some riders on the trail in the distance.
