good times

Another warm/hot race at the flying B ranch. I rode on a 3man team with Jeffry and his friend Matt. The course was pretty loose and dusty in some spots and they cut out a few short trails. Not sure if they added anything - I couldn't tell. Anyhoo - we reached out goal of getting on the podium with a 3rd place finish.
We battled for 2nd place early on but a flat on Matt's second lap (we were about a minute apart before that) made us focus on locking up third place. Sho-air team ended up in 1st in our category. Thanks to Jeff and Matt - we all rode as hard as we could and although it was painful for all of us, the race was a lot of fun looking back at it.some other STR finishers (I can't remember everyone, sorry!):
but Jeff had his so they'll be a few pics up later. The warrior's society site will probably have podium photos later too. Others will also post their stories too ( i think ). Pete, I have your medal. You'll get it next time I see you. Bret and Rob - thanks for coming out to support the str folk. Really. I wanna go celebrate tonight so if anyone wants to hit the yardhouse at 8 (or 9 if that works better?), let me know! Last edited by LBmtb; 10-21-2006 at 04:27 PM. |

these are the lap times over a 6 hour spread.Solid lap times. You can't even tell that matt got a flat on the second lap.He must've really took off after fixing it.notice the first two lap times were the fastest yes it was because of the early morning weather.I think George's first lap was when it started getting hot. Thanks George and Matt for being part of the team.Lot more fun doin the race with friends rather than doin it solo.Definitely an honor being up there on the podium with the sho air guys.I would go to celebrate George but got plans.I'd go tomorrow though.
lap name time 1 Matt 39 min 2 Jeff 37min 3 George 46 min 4 Matt 46min 5 Jeff 40min 6 George 47min 7 Matt 46min 8 Jeff 46min |

Good STR representation guys. I did four laps and cramped up. Wanted to do five. I'm sure that I placed last. Next year! Buddies Kevin Brown (6 laps) got first in Intermediate solo and Fionna (7 laps) was awarded 2nd after correction with judges since they had her listed as female! Got some pics but don't really know how to post them....

Nice ride today, and nice seeing everyone again.
The course was a little loose for my liking in some places for the SS. Ride recap from what I remember. Think I got 4th.....but will wait for the results on the website. lap 1 - 49 lap 2 - 51 lap 3 - 55 lap 4 - 66 with a flat, then a food break lap 5 - don't have a clue. But I knew I had less than 2 hours to finish two more laps, so I opted to cruise the last lap. Ended up walking most of the climbs on the last lap with Keith Eckstein (another SS) talking about trail issues. I think I finished right around 1:28pm, then hit the food line. Looking forward to the next one. Congrats to all the STR Riders today.

Well done George and crew. I don't think it's fair to put us in against those Sho-Air guys as they'd give the pro's a run for their money. Kind of like an all star team. You guys did great.
