Smile RR: Maple/Peak/Motorway Oct 15th

I loved the cool weather we had today. The whole ride was cool and overcast. Well - except for Santiago Peak because we were above the clouds. It was me, Pete, Justin, Jeff, Sarah, and Mike. Mario (mp3) started off with us but he was doing a slightly different ride (up and back to the peak twice). Long tough ride but everyone sucked it up and handled it fine. A few slight mechanicals but nothing major. No crashes either.

Has anyone noticed the abundance of lady bugs at the peak? There were TONS of them there.

It was Mike's first time going over to the motorway and Sarah's first time in the santa anas. Oh ya . . . and there was an ocrider spotting at 4 corners! He ended up meeting up with Mario.

Thanks to everyone who came and rode. Ride was capped off by grub at Pollo loco.

Album is here, and some photos:

We were going to join you guys yesterday but ended up doing a late afternoon San Juan ride. It must have rained up there on Saturday as there was a lot more grip than usual - the descent was was jsut awesome

Although it was cloudy you could see the ocean and out to Catalina. Here's a shot of the sun setting

Great ride yesterday guys and gals.I was pooped afterwards. It was cool being on top of all those clouds felt like another world. The weather is really cooperating.Cool and chilly in some spots, but sunny in others.I digged the patches of fog too.Sauce I said it before and I'll say it again you are one tough cookie. Most girls would've dropped off,but you were right there behind us the whole way through till the end.Now we need to get you on blackstar.

Good to put some names to faces. I might have to try some of those frosted mini-wheats on my next ride.

What did you do Mario, take the day off? Only climbed it twice?

Perfect weather for these long rides. It was nice having the cover of the clouds and enjoying the sun at the peak. I don't like fireroad climbing, but I enjoyed this ride alot. Must be the scenery compared to harding. I'll be looking forward to the Santa Ana rides this winter. See you guys out there.
