Default RR: Sunset Fireroad, Baldy Village to La Verne

First off, thanks to ya all for the ride and for Dirty for sharing his B-Day with us.

Sunset Fireroad. This is a point to point ride, starting near Mt. Baldy Village and ending in La Verne. Got to the trailhead at 4pm and heat was never a issue the whole ride.

GPS Readings
17.1 miles
2 hours 13 minutes riding time
45 minutes stopped
34.7 max speed
7.7 average moving speed
1623 feet of climbing
4931 feet downhill

Five of us did the ride: Dirttorpeedo, Sharky, B-rad, Cyclecc and myself. Somewhere along the ride B-rad (Brandon) took off and we never saw him again…I guess we were to slow for him and he needed to get to class by 7. He brought his Singlespeed running 2:1 and is way strong and fast. Note the picture I took of Brandon, I don’t know the story but he is getting his head shaved this weekend at Jensen.

When we got back to the lower parking spot we ran into MTBRacer finishing his Marshall Canyon Ride on his new singlespeed.

The climbing on this ride is gradual and makes for a very enjoyable ride. Views are great and would be outstanding after a winter storm. I think that it would an excellent no lights full moon ride.

Yep, good people, good fun, I miss singletrack but views made up for it.

Question

This might actually make kind of a cool night ride with all the views. CC and I were gonna go Sat. but work and LBS sales put that off for me. If enough interest (maybe a group ride) let's set this up for some night??
HEY, nice pics Dean!! Thanks

This is the perfect way to spend your B-day...on a bitchen ride! Of course we were sure to hydrate after the ride.

I'm ready to ride this again. Shannon can you make a Sat or Sunday morning ride this weekend? If so, I'm up for it again and I can show you the trail.

Umm, Dirty you up for being a shuttle honey before work?

Dean, thanks for the pix...I know there's more can you forward the file (cyclecc@yahoo).

Nice pics! Looks like a good time. Doing that on a clear night would be amazing. Maybe next full moon?

Yes I took 39 pictures @ 5 megapixels, that makes for big files. I re-size them to post which takes some time. To get them to you I would have to e-mail them four at a time to be under the file size limit. What I will go is burn them and Jose's B-Day ride at the Loop to a disk and give them to you next time we ride.

Dean

Whoops...that should be two separate quotes if ever thar was a need for one...what's wrong Shannon you and Bruce not up for it?

Seriously, you and Bruce can shuttle up to Baldy in Chris's truck and then we won't have to go back up for cars.

Me I have no idea where I am riding this weekend. If there is interest I could be talked into going back. They are closing the lifts at Mammoth soon, only three more weekends to get up there.
