Cool RR: Santiago Oaks Aug 20th

Matt [diggs], Pat [McGrath], Rob [TurnerRob], Bret [DINO], and the str godfather [lbmtb] hit Santiago Oaks this morning. It was Rob's first ride on his big bike, the Yeti ASX. Surprisingly he cleaned the bitches on it! Damn him and his weak legs. We messed around a lot up at the play areas - both the jumps and the drop. Patrick hit the jump but the str motivational speech proved futile on the drop for him. I have tons of video and photos but the vids might have to wait. I uploaded a few photos to an album here.

Thanks Rob for the help on my stem.

EDIT: Added video link ************************************

Right click and save as (or control click on mac)
19.1mb and 3:22mins

YouTube link: Use this one if you don't care about much lower quality. Good if you're at work and can't download or just wanna see it quickly though.

And now for some photos.

Sweet air photo shot by yours truly

Slackers lagging behind on the first b!tch.

Matt begged for a shot of him and Pat

Grabbed this off a video. Me on the top drop.

Very fun ride today, not much mileage but that's ok when you're pedaling a 40lb bike Those jumps were a lot of fun, can't wait to see the videos. Pat, next time we go there you WILL be doing that huck mmmmmmmmmmmmmK!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Oaks is in pretty good shape considering we haven't had rain in quite awhile. I surprised myself by cleaning all 3 of b's.....the 1st one about killed me though. Gouge, good to have your camera back eh.....we missed it while it was out for repair. We saw signs posted that a mtn lion was spotted yesterday, seems to be a lot of those signs posted up there pretty often. Get busy on those videos Gouge

Looks like fun guys. Good looking bike Rob.

Pat - If I can do that drop on my Flux you can do it on an FXR. Once you hit it you'll wonder why you didn't do it before.

New name for the godfather " Gouge "big air" Gonzales. Good job! Nice Form.

Dino - You look like you're blasting off from Cape Canaveral. BIG air.

We saw that mtn lion sign Friday. The date of the sighting was Friday
Needless to say, Dell, Lance and I didn't stray too far from each other on the B's. You know the saying: You don't have to outrun the cat, just your buddy

DUDES I know. Everyone out there today was very dissapointed in me. I don't know if I'll ever get to that point. I tried one of the jumps these guys were doing and it just shows how much "practice" they have all had.

meh, we'll see. George, can you take the picture of me down where it looks like I'm taking a dump?

Thanks buddy.

Sure, I'll take it down. Btw, I was proud of you for trying the jump. And your downhill ability has grown tremendously recently.

well I guess I was a little late today. Like pulling into the parking lot when you guys were just getting back. lol Really to forgot you guys were going to be there or I would have been there early for sure.

I ended up going up zips and down Goat. I redeemed myself after my last goat crash at least. Called it a day after that as I just was not feeling it today for some reason. I ride out there most Tuesdays and Thrusdays after work. If you guys would like to check out some of the less traveled trails let me know.

Great work on the video gouge!!! I know we all had fun and it definately felt good to finally test out my 888. Now with that fork I'm gonna have to send in the DHX to PUSH cause it feels harsh now BTW: Kid A the head angle is around 66.5 degrees or so. Yeah Aldo I surprised myself cleaning all the b's, legs have felt pretty good the past week.......but got another doc appt. with a neurologist tomorrow.

George nice job on the video, nice riding guys.

Where are you guys going to go to find the bigger stufff? You have pretty much done what OC has to offer.

Answer, you guys need a Whistler trip. Or maybe some time with Team Sanchez.

I'd want a bigger bike for whistler. I was handicapped with the smallet/lightest bike out there today.

Very fun ride today guys!!! Propps to Rob for cleaning all 3 biatches on his AS-X. Propps to Gouge for putting together that video, nicely done eh!!! Good song choice, and nicely cut video. We all took turns shooting video of each other.

I was on a good pace for the first biatch when 2 equestrians started coming down it and I was forced to dismount, killng my momentum and my chance of cleaning the first biatch. I did however clean the 2nd biatch straight up, not the "cheater" s/t on the right (vonDiggs can vouch, lol). As you can see in the video we had a lot of fun hitting those jumps and drops. Patrick, nice job on hitting the first set of jumps, but next time YOU WILL hit that top drop eh As we pulled into the lot we saw spookDave suiting up and getting ready to rollout. Finished up our session with some Taco Bell and some killer tunes inside of Taco Bell!

Fun times today!!!
