A Tahoe/Mammoth trip would be cool. I dunno what my financial sitcheeayshun will be and it might be tough for me once school starts, but, man, that sounds like fun.

Looks like it's just a Mammoth trip for me for now.

We'll be camping about 20 mi. from Mammoth July 14-16, and the wife said she'll happily ditch me at the park gates on Sat. or Sun.

Snow still looks to be a factor on the upper trails, but the lower ones are shaping up nicely. Anyone else planning to be there then?

Kippie, any other suggestions for a noob? Chu know what I like...

I would love to checkout Mammoth depending on when you guys go and my work travel schedule. Also, I wont be able to keep up with a lot of you on the harder more technical trails yet but I would be willing to come and see whats out there. If anyone wants to follow me around the easier trails Im game.

DELL!! change your plans to Aug 3-6!!

All the trails around town are marked by GREEN, BLUE or BLACK diamonds for levels off Difficulty. Even the off mountain 'free' trails.

For the free trails Mountain View is awesome. Nothing techy, but just downhilll flowy forest singletrack. Starts at Minerat Summit which is about 1 mile above the Main Lodge. The trail ends at the Earthquake Fault then you can hop the street and descend Downtown

Also Mammoth Rock Trail is a cool trail. This is a little more techy. Kinda hard to explain where it starts but its a one way singletrack trail descends to the bottom of Town by some horse stables.

Most of this stuff is probably foreign jibrish... The best thing to do is talk to locals up there. Go Footloose Sporting Goods on the Corner of Main Street across from the Shell Station.
