I just found and rode "slaughterhouse" for the first time, but I'm wondering how to connect it to the actual Plateau loop. It takes you up to La Cresta, but where the heck do you go from there?

From the Cul-de-Sac you end up in at the top of Slaughterhouse ... head up the hill on Via Entrada until the road tees. Make a left onto Avenida La Cresta and head down until the road tees again. Make another left, The Trails Circle, and follow that down towards Clinton Keith. There is trail access on the right hand side at about the halfway point (33 32' 47.21"N + 117 16' 21.07"W) to Clinton Keith. You can follow that trail around to the left and intersect the trail that lead away from the parking area across from the visitor center.

I usually park in the lot at Avenida La Cresta/Clinton Keith and ride over to the entrance across from visitor center. Would like to add slaughterhouse to the mix tho. jamisjake, did you park at the fire station and drop in there?

Dean, I didnt see anything posted about it being closed, and there were a few different bike tracks(some fresh, some older) in there going all the way to the top. All in all, it was pretty nice, but definitely overgrown with poison oak.

Ouch going up Superman would hurt! After all of these years and very little trail maintenance that I know of I'm surprised Slaughterhouse is still there. I don't know who owns it and how'd they shut it down...unless the the Open Space District has gotten their hands on it.

I see other riders on Slaughterhouse all the time and have never been challenged by anyone on the legality of riding it. There was a "homemade" sign at the top of the trail a couple of years back, but I suspect that it was put there by home owners trying to discourage shuttle vehicles from parking in the cul de sac. There is certainly lots of poison oak to enjoy as well, so have your post ride windex ready to go.
![]() A nice loop is up Slaughterhouse, "do the plateau" and then come back down Superman. For those times I ride Slaughterhouse I usually park in the dirt area to the right of the firehouse.

Hitting "Superman"/"Wabash" is on the agenda. Can you ride Superman to the bottom of the hill or does it loop?Quote:

![]() There have been a few threads discussing PO remedies ... I've had pretty good luck with a product called Technu. I've heard other people say that Windex works also. If I know that if I had a chance of meeting some PO on the trail I'll wash those exposed areas with Technu. It works pretty well for me ...

Park at the fire station, up Slaughterhouse, SRP counter clockwise, then cross the road and end with a bang into the neighborhood, and then a nice cool down on the way back to the fire station. 16 miles door-door. |

Since the day Blue Rat showed me the trail up Slaughterhouse I include it in every SRP ride. Mr. Hobbs' route is basically the way I take each time I ride up there. I couldn't see the detail but I go up Manzanita and done the harold Davis Hill.
This is great local ride.
