Default RR: Crater Rim Trail/Newberry NM

Crater Rim Trail in Newberry National Volcanic Monument just south of Bend, Oregon.

What a great trail! Twenty-one miles around the rim of a volcano on perfect singletrack.

One healthy climb followed by pretty mellow ups with some really good downs.

Being a volcanic area, I was expecting horrid pumice trails. Instead I found well-packed dirt on recently cleared ST.

Paulina Lake. You'll be riding all the way around the caldera to that ridge on the other side.

Twenty-one miles of trail just like this. The start of the first DH.

The required bar shot.

I don't know how they got these trails opened in a National Monument but I have to say thanks. This is a great trail.

Beautiful. I'm homesick and jealous. As a kid, I use to live south of there in the Crater Lake area. I got to get back someday.
