Default Loopy Loo Lost aka Fun with a Noob

wife tells me we have plans to hit my bro-in-laws in fullerton over wknd to hang out instead of me riding with some buds in BB.

Bro calls to confirm what time we are heading out (wife & son in tow). I say in passing as always so is this the day we finally hit the loop…assuming the same old answer of no go. He says “yes”, I ask him to repeat, he say “yes”. I say we’re leaving in 15 minutes!!!

Tell my wife her brother told me to bring my rig cuz we’re hitting the loop. She curse his name, I smile!!

Arrive at his abode, swim a bit with my son, eat massive quantities of pork sandwiches and beer, and feel like sh!t,

Bro says you ready to ride. I wanna puke but say hells yes.

I run to my truck grab my gear and kit up. He comes out wearing a t-shirt, surf shorts and sneakers. He and his wife (non riders) look at me in bike shoes, shorts, camelback, helmet, gloves, etc and neither of them know what to make of it. The looks on their face was priceless.

Wow, I guess in the non-bike world mtb’rs are a bunch of total d-wad’s. imagine if I was wearing lycra

Anyway we’re off. Me on my 7” stinky and he on his rigid POS Wal-Mart diamondback running 1.9’s.

I snowboard with him quite a bit but we never hit dirt so not sure what to expect. mos def no BB but ride was a blast.

No a lot of traffic. I made it up all climbs on the big rig (he walked a few), popped the lips, hucked a duck or two, etc.

I only hit fully once before a few year back so we (err, I) missed the trail pickup once or twice but a little backtracking makes it a bit more of an adventure. Bro had a mech that I was able to fix (which is a f’n miracle) that also added to the fun.

Anyway, he most def graduated to noob status and looks like he had fun - so be forewarned Steve Jackson cuz sounds like he has plans to ride your biatch again and appears he don’t use protection (yes, I am bringing him and helmet not if but WHEN we ride again).

Sorry no pics
