Default Whistler 9/14-9/18

We left for Whistler on 9/13. Aris (AlphaMog) and I did the drive straight through by ourselves. 22 hours straight... Our other 2 buddies were flying in and taking the shuttle. (Smart ones). The day we got there we arrived at 10:30 AM on Sunday, unloaded all the stuff and decided to go riding anyway, even though we had already been up for over 24 hours driving.

The first day was kind of just taking it slow and getting a feel for the mt. We only did the 3 hr 1/2 day and still got 6 runs in. We mainly did Dirt Merchant and A-line. But I did a solo run on Joy Ride to clown shoes and about crapped myself. The only crash we had this day was me on a stupid log drop on dirt merch. I just came in to nose heavy and went over the bars. No big deal tho...

The Second day the full crew was there so it was game on. All the trails were looking great. Some sections of trails with freight train, A-Line, Crank it Up, etc had pretty bad braking bumps but for the most part all the trains were good. It had rained a couple days earlier so they were still working on raking them out. Aris started getting some balls and crashes on some of the drops (which I should get the video of soon). But he would pop right back up and charge. I also did D-1 this day. Which was totally easy. I don't see why its a "pro line".

The Third day day everyone was startin to feel it. Everyone was moving a little slower but we still got on the mt just as it was opening. This is the day I beat up our more novice riders in the group. (Aris and Scott). I took them down a little top to bottom course I had set up that included 13 black/double blacks and 1 blue. this was its order. Original Sin, Goats Gully, In Deep, Caption Safety, Triple Drop, back to In Deep, Factrobat, Expressway, D-1, Upper Angry Pirates, Crab Apple Hits, A-Line, Hornet, Old school, GLC drops. They absolutely loved it but deff kicked ours asses. Aris especially falling off the ladders on factrobat... lol

Day Four everyone was pretty much beat. But for some reason I decided to go for a couple top to bottom race runs to see how fast I could do it. and I was making them in sub 20 min. which was from the very top where the gondola drops off to the bottom where you get on the gondola. (I didn't have a watch, had to use the clocks in the gondola lines.) This is also the day that I got talked into hitting the big black box drop in the bone yard, after a couple beers of course. So we waited until the lifts closed and all the sweepers left and I hiked up, moved the gates that were blocking it, dropped a blue rope so I could hit the berm coming into it, and I hucked it clean. It was so butter. Wish I could have done it more. By the end of day four I had riden every single black and double black on the entire mt which was my goal the whole trip.

The last day we all woke up, packed up and drove home.

By the end of the trip I was tearing through all the double black trails I was scared for my life for on the first day. Its crazy how much better you can get out there in 4 days of riding. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!

You can watch in in high quaity on youtube (comes up much better)
This is only a rough draft. waiting on helmet cam footage...

I drove down from seattle with my brother once, and it was a beautiful drive. I will say that it is a long haul, and we spread it out over a few days, but especially going through oregon was a pretty neat experience.

That sounds nice, I figure a good 7-8 days would be fine? 2 days driving there, 3-4 days of adventure, and 2 days driving back would be good.
