Default Indian Truck Trail to Upper Holy Jim Loop.

So... at 0700 the adventure began. Tis a tale of 3 morons who needed to climb....
Brewmaster, Chewyeti and Freekengo set out on a journey up the Indian Truck Trail in search of a holy man named jim....

so enough BS.
We climbed for days.... just chuggin away. Myself and Ken were on squishies, and sam blew us away on his air9. Starting off in the morning is the hot ticket... as most of the climb is out of the way when it warms up, the fog/haze/marine layer cooks off by the time you are at the top for a killer view, and teh bugs havent come out yet......or so we thought LOL.

So long story short, we climbed over 4000 feet for a 1 mile long singletrack yeah, we are not bright. We almost chose to go down lower holy jim and call rockinthe casbah for a shuttle back to ITT

SO great times had by all. No real mechanicals, no flats, no carnage. I took a dive into some bushes on upper holy jim, but thats about it.

All in all a GREAT ride. Killer view. A great calve burner!!!

GPS says 4700 ft ascent, but that seems high. About 20 miles round trip.

You should have at least gone down Coldwater.

Thinking the same thing. If you're going to go up ITT & Upper HJ, I think it's a law (or should be) to come down Coldwater.

When do you guys want to do it again.

You have to be able to ride up the Santa Anas if you want to ride with us. Shuttling doesn't count.

We thought about Coldwater and I think we saw the trail head for it, but being that none of us had ridden it before, we thought it best not to tackle a trail referred to as "controlled falling" when we were light on water. That's definitely a trail I'd like to hit with someone who knows the way.

I am uploading pics right now. It was a great time today. I love climbing ITT; it's probably my favorite climb to the Main Divide that I've done. My GPS says 19.5 miles and 4100 feet of climbing.

UHJ was worth the climb, I only wish we could have gone down LHJ as well.

I haven't felt that good climbing in a while. I have changed my diet a bit in the last few weeks and it has really paid off. I was motoring up ITT and really didn't need to stop. It was awesome!

Before we rolled out, we sprayed our helmets with bug spray. That left an interesting, unintended shape on the ground which Chewy enjoyed...

Climbing...

...and more climbing.

I had time while I waited...

Kengo's sausage McMuffin with egg..interesting choice in mid-ride fuel.

Chewy applying perfume.

Nice views on the way up.

Chewy catching a view of UHJ

Me

Chewy looking for a pipe to ride

Checking out the top of LHJ...

View of the Main Divide, from whence we came.

A Chewy break at the top of UHJ

Homies

Damn, we were high up

Dropping into UHJ...this is the last we saw of Ken until the bottom...

The Canzo with the new Fox F29 120...

Chewy pops a bead...again.

But gets rolling again.

Thumbs up

Upper Holy Jim is a blast!
I still haven't got to climb ITT though.
When it get's a bit cooler I'd be into hooking up for one of my favorite rides. Up Lower Holy Jim, to Upper Holy Jim. Then once you start down, you get the reward of one of the longest sustaind DH's in the Santa Ana's!

I just rode UHJ for the first time today. UHJ is really one of the most scenic trails in Orange County imo. Great pictures and nice bikes. That said, I do think you guys chose a loop that had a fair amount more work than play (assuming ITT is just straight fireroad/truck trail). Then again, I don't know much about the options for those coming up the east syydeee

Then Coldwater was not the trail we saw off of ITT. I didn't even see a turn off for Coldwater going down UHJ. Next time...

Yep that extra credit trail off Upper Holly Jim can take you way out of the way, like back down to Glen Ivy.

Indian Truck Trail is my favorite climb fireroad climb to Main Divide, there is actually some trees along the way.
