Thumbs up I Tried To Ride On By......

Yesterday morning I went for a little ride around Oak's.
I sarted at the back of Peter's for a little more ride time, and I was on the Stinky to check out the softer spring I put in the Totem.
The plan was to just ride up the 3 B's, the down Goat.
After making it up the first two with no problems, just a lot of huffing and puffing, I was feeling pretty good!
It's always amazed me at how well the Stinky climbs.
Figure 39.5 lbs, + 7 inches of travel = a crappy climbing bike.

Not MY Stinky!

So anyway's, I get to the gate at B number 3, and think to myself, "self, I should go climb Anita's".

WHAT?! ARE YOU SICK?!

Self - "you heard me, and yes, you ARE sick"!

Oh, OK......

I get to the bottom where the climb begins, reset my GPS, and started pedaling!

I made it up to the first switchback, but no further.
I looked down to see what the GPS read, and opp's, I forgot to start it!
Back down I go.
This time I hit start, and back UP I go!
I got stalled at the exact same spot. I tried to get started back up without walking any of it, and just about fell over. TWICE!
So, I pushed up to the middle of the switchback, go on, started pedaling, and made it up to the top, then continued to the top of the small climb before the ridgeline to Goat.
I'm fairly sure I sounded like I was having a baby durring the ride up!

Here's a shot of Anita's...

Here's what the GPS read;
http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6794724

From there I headed on down to ride Goat.
At the top I thought it'd be kinda cool to do the same thing. So I reset the GPS and headed on down.
Man, I felt good. I was moving fairly fast through the re-route section, my top speed on the GPS was 27.4 mph, came to the first kinda tech section, and about ate my lunch! So I slowed down some, got to the waterfall section, and almost ate it again! Hiked back up, and hit it again, with better results.

Here's how it looked on the GPS;
http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6794723

So, it was a fun little experiment I think I'll try again!

That looks like it would be a good climb, short pretty steep.

rode down goat for the first time yesterday. I did not see a line on that waterfall section so I got off and walked it. I saw tire marks on the rock and know people ride it but it was not for me.

I love GPS's. They're such an awesome way to share ride info.

Good pics!

Sick, indeed.

Way to take one for the team... I think I would've been out after the first attempt.

It's really not all that bad. Especialy when there's seven inches of travel involved!

Take that 7 inches and subtract 4 for my 80 mm hard tail.

80 sounds luxurious compared to my 65mm hardtail. Anyway its nice to see people on long travel bikes willing to pay for admission instead of complaining about climbing.
