Default Santa Rosa Plateau

Plan A for Sat morning San Diego crew was to do some 20+ miles of back country exploring to the east of Ramona. However the weather gods had a different idea and by 745 am, torrential rain and lightening were already hitting our starting point in San Diego Country Estates. So we went to Plan B to meet up in Fallbrook. But on the way to Plan B, we came up with Plan C to meet Blue Rat and vandyketom at the bottom of Slaughterhouse by the fire station. So Plan C it was. PacMan was the only one from SD to have ridden there, so it was a good opportunity to meet up w/ some fellow STR folks and hit some new trails.

Bjammin is always cracking a smart comment, but he won’t tell us what is really in that inhaler of his.

It’s always nice to have a canopy of trees, but I’ll pass on the complimentary, trail lined poison oak.

Crew for the ride, minus myself.

Blue Rat rolls a rock feature.

But that’s not good enough for Sladnas who must be the center of attention, especially when it comes to photos.

Spinning it out on the trail.

I’m going though my pics and see this face starting at us from the trees.

Sladnas kicking a tail whip…show off

PacMan hitting a berm on the way up Shivela Trail.

Wait stop under a tree that looks like it belongs in an Alabama swamp.

Reaching the end of the finger trail.

Mid-ride entertainment was provided by the Visitor’s Center before heading back down Slaughterhouse.

We logged just under 14 miles and about 2200’ of climbing. Heat was cranking up by noon, but there was a good breeze going that made it tolerable. In all, a good ride leaving everyone from San Diego very satisfied (except for the poison oak part).

Sounds like an awesome time, probably more fun than my "league of dorks" fantasy football draft.

Next time...

Thanks for the ride report ... once again it was nice meeting up with you guys. One thing, that picture was of Tom rolling the rock feature. I was off to the side catching my breath and sweating.

Ya, so Slaughterhouse's Revenge reared its ugly head this morning. I just got back from a long road ride and noticed this when I got out of the shower:

I am so screwed. It's gonna be a long week.

I guess the bleach didn't work? I believe that Technu is still effective after the rash starts ...

Haha. Maybe I should've actually used bleach.

My wife is heading out shopping. I'll have her pick up some Tecnu.

I hope that the Technu proves successful for you ... the itch from PO can make one lose their mind.

Ya, I've had it before. A few minor outbreaks and two major outbreaks that I had to go to the doctor over. The itching makes sleeping hard for sure. I have found that heat makes it flare up and cold (cold water or ice packs) calms it down.

The last few times out there I did SRP with the same route you guys did starting at the Fire station.
But to add that extra punch of adventure, I've been finishing up with a trip down the "wabash trail" and then take the road around to the cars (since for the most part the trails up top lacking that "out in the wilderness" feel with the picnic benches at ever corner).
I think it's an extra 5 miles, but well worth it.

Nice scat by the way. It think it's a first for any ride report.

That trail is called Slaughterhouse ... I'm out of town on business for the next week or so, but people ride at the plateau all the time. Start a thread inviting peeps to ride and you should get some response.
