Default LCWP Weekday Access?

I did a search on this site and some others, but I must be blind. I wanted to park off of Ridge Park/Newport Coast to access El Morro, but the trail starts out at LCWP. I'm just wondering if it's legal to ride there during the week, and if I need to sign in or call in or whatever. The park always has me confused, hehe, probably because I've only ventured into it once.

As far as I know it is legal to park there and access the park from there at any time unless LCWP is officially closed. Sometimes the clipboard is out there to sign in, but not always.

I've entered quite a few times from there and never had any trouble. It is a legitmate entrance.

Laguna Wilderness Park used to be closed during the week, that ended about a year ago. There are numerious legal access points: Willow Creek, Big Bend, Popular St. (maybe), Dartmore St., Laguna Ridge Trail, the road by the tennis courts in Laguna, Ridge Park Road, and through El Moro State Park. Hopefully someday soon we can add Shady Canyon to that list, along with the rest of the park on the inland side of the Toll Road.

I've never ridden there, but can't you just park right off of Laguna Canyon?

The main parking area is on Laguna Canyon Road just south of El Toro. I think it's $3
