Rode a quicky at Chino for the first time in a while today. South Ridge and North Ridge are fine, in fact North Ridge is classic double track. Smooth and fast coming down. Also went down Bovinian, which was really overgrown, but rideable at least downhill. We're talking 8 foot plants at the bottom. Went up Sycamore Cyn which was overgrown at the bottom but OK after about 1/2 way up. I also took a look at Raptor at 4 corners and it looked OG, too. I'm guessing most of the singletrack will be pretty bad until someone gets to brushing it.

I've volunteered there the last two years with SHARE and Trails for all the next and I never rode it except those days while we worked. I'm going to pass this year.

My g/f rode it Sunday and said she ran over a snake. She was coming down Sycamore and the mustards were really high. She couldn't see around the corner and by the time she got there, a snake was laying in the middle of the trail. The only thing she could do was ride faster and run the sucka over. I told her she should have bunny hopped it. Oh yeah, that was her 4th snake sighting of the day.
I rode down Bovinian last Thurs and I couldn't even see the trail Just the tops of the mustards showed me where the trail let. There was a small enough gap between the top of the weeds to see the trail. |

I got behind a cow once on East Fenceline singletrack for about 1/2 mile and couldn't pass it. It was a pace cow. I've run into small herds at night, too, which is pretty freaky.

Speaking of cows...
A nearby "mtb ranch" we'd often ride back in Texas had many head of longhorn cattle grazing on his property. After a ride you could order up a grass-fed, all natural, hormone-free longhorn burger--you probably road by the "donor" on your last visit--and enjoy an excellent post-ride meal (and shower)! ![]() |

Nope, not all true. We were out there years ago on our weekly night ride which we had been doing for about 6 months when all of a sudden a ranger's truck came flying up over a little rise and almost skidded into us. He got out of the truck yelling at us "That didn't we know the park closed at dusk?". We didn't lie, we just told him we thought it would be alright. He told us he could give us an expensive ticket, but because this was our first and last warning he was going to let us off. I later met him again on a trail working day and he explained to me that the animals which many are nocturnal need a break from all the human activity and night time was not a good time to be there. Not a bad guy just a little excitable. I have since heard of many others riding there at night with no problem. But I've had my warning.
