Default Blackstar in full swing, but bring paddles

Headed up Blackstar on the DOS this hot afternoon... did I mention it was HOT up there anyway set out to see if I could get past the under the 1 HR monkey on my shoulder with a geared bike... So first feeling really good but the as I rounded the first corner at the pipe, I found it. I knew they were going to do it but did not know when... Loose soupy sand and loose dirt pulling at the rear wheel the whole way up they not only fixed the gap at the top but graded 96% of the road leaving it very very loose and did I mention it was hot up there this afternoon. so any way My goal was to bust an hour or have it bust me, well today the mountain won I got to the top gate looked down and the Garmin screamed back at me 1:01:18 just think if I had not slowed and stopped to lose my lunch do to pushing so hard I may very well have cracked it while negotiating the loose terain and did I mantion it was a little hot up there with no breeze.... Anyway it is good to have my saucey little girl back home and a pleasure to take her out this afternoon. If you are headed to Blackstar this weekend be prepared for the sand and roll the padel tires like glamis... not that bad but it really sucked at times

BAH!

I was going to start riding there to escape sand. lol

Maybe I could convince my friend, he owns the piece of property right before the pipes, to drive one of his pieces of equipment over it a few dozen times. hehe

I went up there this evening as well. While I was happy to see the trail fixed in a few places, te road up was much softer... and slower. I was only able to turn 1:06 to the top. The heat also slows me down. Matter of fact, I think I may have seen you headed down. Were you riding and orange hardtail? Was around 6:15pm and I was headed up from the concrete pipe.

After a while I didnt mind the surface so much and coming down on it was pretty fun until right near the bottom where Art's speed bumps used to be - suddenly hit super soft silt and the tyre jsut sank!

I was up there on Tuesday and was surprised to see all the extra dirt and the grading. I thought it was only going to be on a few sections but it's practically across the whole hill.

I was disappointed because I was just starting to get my rhythm on that hill, you see I've only ridden it a few times. Anyway, man that mush was making the climb definitely harder.

After a few weeks and adding some water to the mix - we probably won't know the difference.
