Default Engineer Mt Trail..Durango, CO

I beat my old record of highest trail riden, 12,240 ft today. I was a long hard ride. Started at Molas Pass across to Engineer Pass and down Engineer Mt Trail.

I don't have time to fix the pictures, pics do not do the wildflowers justice. And yes we had thunder showers and got rained on.

According to Matt from Hermosa Tours, Hermosa is just the most well know trail, not the best Durango has to offer.

Went back over the Colorado Trail and Engineer Mountain/Molash back in 2002. Right after the fires, and though it rained for the entire 4 days, it was quite the ride. Hermosa then over Engineer back down into Durango.

Molash - no water

Calling me back...

Rideable?

Me at 12,500 (did the extra bit for another 300 or so)

Beautiful pics, grasshopper Dean. I have very fond memories of Crested Butte single track (Trail 409)... it looked as though somebody had taken a 12" single track tool and made perfect single track. I'd never seen anything like it... and the flowers were unbelieveable! Coming from flatland SoCal, I just couldn't believe that I was in my granny when pedaling at 9 or 10,000 ft. I kept trying to shift to a lower gearing... then I found out that they make a lower spider gear that a lot of the locals ride.

A suggestion, Dean: you might consider doing the San Juan Hut2Hut from Durango to Moab (7 days/6 nights)... with out a doubt the most fun I had ever had on a bike. In fact I'm thinking of putting a trip together and doing it again next year. I understand there is more single track on the route now.

Keep sending pics!
