Default Same Old Trail but a New Ride: Sweetwater

Had you ever experience that feeling of riding a new trail but you actually riding the same location and if you change something the whole thing changes? Ok what I mean is today I rode my usual local ride but after starting the same way at one point I rode clockwise instead of following my counter-clockwise loop and that made it feel like riding on a new trail but it wasn't!! I know it doesn't make sense so I just "shut up" and let the pictures do the talking.

So which way requires climbing this hill - clockwise or counterclockwise?

It's fun to mix it up once in awhile, but there's usually something that quickly reminds me of why I have always done it the same way in the past. One time I decided to be different by climbing NASCAR to descend Vista del Mar at La Costa. Never again. It didn't even sound good at the time.

That will be clockwise from where I start(Eastlake area).
Nascar, it hurts just to think about climbing it!

But can you do it the opposite direction??? Now that would be a challenge

As far as climbs go it was pretty sweet. Not as long or as brutal as I expected, but a good challenging climb.

From either way for me is challenging, I haven't done it the opposite direction but I'm sure it will be painful.

And for a really new perspective, try it on a SS.
