RR: Mammoth Trip 2 7/17-20

Well it was time to get some more use out of my season pass and drag the work xc boys out for another year of punishment. The drive was fast getting up. We left Fountain Valley around 1 and didn't hit much traffic all the way there. Dispite the minor detour just north of Independence from the flash floods the day before. We awoke Friday morning eager to get on the hill. After a few brutal runs down the dbl diamonds they suggested we slow it down and hit some of the more xc friendly trails. I thought that might be alright so I don't wear them out. After lunch I wanted to try the first two hits on technorock. I've never really hit anything like those before so I took the easy part on the first one and kinda rolled off the rock on the second one. After the rock drop I landed clean then slipped a peddel on an after bum. Well I thought i didn't need shinguards. I was wrong and bought some the next morning in the shop. not too bad from the front but nice and lumpy from the side.







Morning two and our vetern xc racer is a little tired of me leading the whole time so he rents a stinky and dons the fullface and armour. The first run got off to little slower but very eventfull start. We got off at Macoy and started around break through to seven bridges. Well One of those damn trees jumped and and bit me.



Well I managed to make it down the bottom then we pedaled over to shotgun and I got this with a half pedal under me.



Lucky for me I had the great forethought to bring another set. I laughed when I put them in the box but it was a good thing.



As the day wore on we watched the Kamakazi jump park come together. I was looking at the bridge all day wondering if I'd sack up by the end of the day. Well yes I did. We finished the day with another try at the technorock drops much better this time. Then hit the bridge drop-in a few times. Enjoy

that last vid is nice...i wanna see someone try to clear that...glad you had a fun time..dont think i'll be making it up there this summer =(

Yeah the drop and first jump was not a big deal. All afternoon I didn't see a single person clear the second set.
