Car break in alert near Mount Wilson

This is a car break in alert near Mount Wilson.

My and my pal Danny (213madness) drove up to Mount Wilson today leaving my car at the Eaton Saddle (what the ranger called it). This area is right before you reach the observatory, there is a gate on your right side with parking spots (Mount Lowell trail or i think it is called Mount Lowe railway to inspiration point)

Well some a#shole broke my right passenger window and my front windshield. They looked thru my glove and didnt take anthing but caused alot of damage.

2 others cars where vandalized in the same spot.

DO NOT LEAVE CASH OR VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR, THAT IS WHAT THESE LOSERS ARE AFTER.

The ranger reports that there has been alot of this happening all over this immediate area, including colby canyon parking area. They look for cash.

We had a great ride, its too bad this ruined my day.

Everyone be carefull and report any break -ins please

I hope these skumbags get caught and prosecuted.

I heard this was a big problem a couple years ago near JPL. I think I heard that it got so bad that the police set up a sting and caught the guys. Hopefully, they'll do the same at the location you described.

Thieves must die! This was happening quite a bit a year or two ago. Vehicles up there are easy targets with the little traffic in the area. Hope somebody catches these guys before it gets out of hand.

I'm with you. Extend the death penalty to this scum. I have a lot of other scum in mind too, but I won't go there.

The windshield was cracked- not totally broken. I did see a car near the bottom of ACH with the rear window broken too.

I got glass everywhere, one of the other cars had a big dent on the door from the rocks they used to throw the rock to break the windows.

My friend 213 madness pitched in some $ to get it fixed, now that is a friend, thanks 213 madness.

I remember when they caught the punks hitting JPL. Now I hope they catch these guys too.

Keep your eyes open for people who just don't seem to fit the mtb profile. Get plate numbers just in case and like has been said before don't leave valuables in your car. Not only do you lose your stuff you let them know they can keep doing this to make enough for their next fix.

Just as EruizLA said, we had an awesome ride! We did so many trails and rode for over 6 hours. And it was the first time that I did not get a flat. I look forward to riding these trails again.

Unfortunately, the way we found the car at the end was heartbreaking and makes me reconsider the logistics to these outings. Its vexing that some people have nothing better to do than vandalize other people's property and steal from them. One of the cars parked next to us (a couple that was hiking), sustained substantial damage to their car, which included a deep dent to a door and broken window/s. Im sure their damage exceeded a grand.

I feel bad about what happened to your car EruizLA, but you know what? It could have been way worst. Two broken windows is not worth limiting our riding, or ruining our spirit. I coughed up the cash I had in my pocket to help with the expenses, but I plan to give you a little more to at least fix one of the windows. Hey this could have happened to any one of us, and I just felt that what they did to your car, they did to me. Dude/s got lucky I did not catch them in the act.

Someday the POS that did this will pay for it. So lets move on, be more vigilant, and plan accordingly.

Dudes, the tweakers are just trying their best to stimulate the economy with new windsheilds, windows, paint, body work, valuables to sell and old owner having to buy, and of course buying new drugs.

Even though they are doing such a great service to the economy, the Death Penalty should be enforced, and I don't nor ever do have beer running thru my veins. Kill them all.
