I have no idea. I am new to the area and just have been exploring a little by myself.
I live right across the street from villa park high school. The first time I went I road up imperial highway and took fireroads across and went through some tunnel under serrano and entered over there. Followed some little singletrack down and went across and up mountain goat (not a good idea) and then looped that around to where I started. The second time I went up serrano and found some little horse trail that went down into some houses and continued on and the entrance was down alongside some houses and started out on like santiago creek trail or something. I went up sage ridge and up that single track right there that comes out by the bench and rode around to barham ride I think and got lost back down there by that lake and ended up back on that creek trail and then went out. Just want to know what else is out there and how to loop around for longer rides. |

Yeah... I was wondering also where the Blair Witch trails is on Santiago Oaks? I done the 3b's up and down chutes but that's the extent of my Santiago oaks trips.

Most of the good stuff is closed private property, that being said continue on Serrano/nohl ranch till you come to a street Called Hidden Canyon, go over and down the ridge at the bottom near the intersection with overlook Terrance is a fire road/ access to the other portions of the Oaks. Starting from there would make a better loop back to your house.
There is some single track on the ridge next to cannon, I typically loop in with horse trails around from Cowan to OPA but they can be more hike a bike than you might enjoy. Here is the map to the Oaks proper, and yes mind the excrement. |

I am looking to start looping like 30 mile loops. I have been doing like 20, but some of that is doubling back doing the same stuff and it includes the road ride over there. I don't mind hike a bikes either as long is the hiking pays off in the end. |

You can also connect Weir Canyon loop to Oaks. Gives you some decent climbing and descents and a few rock sections but it is mostly double track (not fireroad). This will add six miles to the classic Oaks loop. Look it up on Geoladders as thats how I discovered the loop.

The Oaks now has a lot of different options now that the trails have re-opened. In addition, there are a lot of horse trails in the surrounding communities so it is possible to put together some epic rides.
Your best bet is to slowly explore the area and study GPS routes of the trails so you're semi-familiar with the area before you go. If you see a singletrack, take it. Exploring is half the fun. My personal favorite gem is a small stretch called Deer Canyon near Weir Canyon. It has some great, flowing singletrack, but it is pretty short. http://www.geoladders.com/show_route...=1&route=13417 We sometimes loop it in with Chutes and Weir. http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=13799 And....for the almost 30 miles of trails..... http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=13383 Connecting with Peter's Canyon leads to yet another system of singletrack. http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=14741 |
