Everything was different last night.
I had some bling on my bike. The Tuesday bunch rode on Monday. We didn't ride Chiquita Ridge much but looped through Riley Park instead. And we saw a mountain lion...or a few of us did at least. ----------------- My order from Purely Custom finally came in so I had some bling to share before the ride. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Despite the cooler temps the group was smaller this time with only nine riders. Maybe it was the Monday thing and people just couldn't make it. Not sure. ![]() Anyway we headed off and climbed Firehose instead of descending it. Think mini-short-Cholla. Next we rode north/up Ladera Ridge to Oso Parkway then roadied it over to the horse trail at Oso and Wagon Wheel. It was there Debbie aka db250f broke two spokes and decided she'd better head home on the road. And then there were eight. After a fun loop through Riley we headed back west on Oso Pkwy and then up/north on Burma Road. I was feeling pretty good so I powered up the steep hill first follwed by Aaron (sp?) and Chip I think. BY the time I reached Oso Singletrack I was head down and breathing hard. As the trail leveled out I glanced up and there I saw a small-medium mountain lion heading away from me about 50 feet away. I saw him for just a couple seconds then off into the brush he went. The next two riders saw him from behind and confirmed my sighting. We investigated further to get a closer look but we was gone...like a ghost in the brush. After we dropped the always-fun Oso Drop we came back to Oso Parkway where suddenly I heard someone across the street yelling my name. It was none other than Gregg aka OMR. He had arrived late and had gone "exploring" looking for us. It was good to have him along. And then there were nine. From there we climbed up onto Ladera Ridge again and then dropped the new fun singletrack called Pipeline followed by Waterworks. As dusk fell on the canyon we pedaled south back to the cars. Another good ride with great people. Now here's some photos..sorry I was too slow to get one of the mountain lion. ![]() Eric aka ericfoltz rolling through Riley Park. ![]() Eric and Chip aka Chipster in Riley. ![]() Vickie and Aaron. ![]() Sarah climbing up Horned Toad in Riley. ![]() Jim aka Twitch and Sarah and Vickie on Horned Toad in Riley. ![]() The group heading up another singletrack in Riley. ![]() Eric, Aaron, Garrett aka NOGO and Chip climbing the horse trail in Wagon Wheel. |
