The day was hot and so were the riders. There were 4 that set out on the journey but only 3 returned. Jedi Rob, joey sunday, Mr Hobbs, and Wolfepack. Wolfee was unable to make the climb so he oppted for heading back to the truck.
I'm not sure if this is a legal trail. We did it as an out and back. It can also be tied together with another well known trail "landscaping run-off" to make it a loop. As you can see in the pictures, the straights are long and steep (that's what she said) and the switchbacks are tight (I think she also said that). The high speed downhill is difficult to catch with an ordinary camera phone, but I think you can see just how incredibly difficult the speed can be as JediRob holds on as Joey has a major off. I didn't have my GPS on for the total miles. I don't want to guess on the milage either, as some one might get caught out trying to clean this thing with out be prepared for what lays ahead. On to the photos: Trailhead, Look at the cars coming the opposite way, Brakes locked! You know you in for one hell-of-a downhill on the way back. |

Urrrragh!

That is an illegal trail and you should be ashamed of yourselves posting pictures of it on the Internet.
Well, at least you were wearing your helmets. ![]()

To put it bluntly, we asked if it was legal prior to starting.
There was this little 'ol lady with a walker that was just finishing the downhill when we started up. I said "excuse me little old lady....how many behind you"? She held up a fist, I took that as zero behind me. But then again she may have been reaching for the oxygen bottle valve. That's how gnarly the elevation change is. She did not have a sherpa! |

I(Jedi Rob) had the pleasure of joining Mr. Hobbs, and Joey Sunday on this epic ride. There we sat at the trail head, trying to decide whether or not to attempt the unknown. Even though it was hot and late in the day, we opted to try it anyways. This trail throws you right into a long steep climb. About half way up this first climb we ran into the first and only other rider on the trail. He was coming down the trail on a very narrow section. He was riding what looked like some sort of chair with wheels. This guy didn't even yield to us climbing, and actually shouted profanities at me when I tried to hold my line. I'll give him a piece of my mind another day. I see his car in the parking lot all the time. He's is so arrogant that he's got a picture of his chair with wheels hanging from his rear view mirror! The rest of the climb was uneventful, yet grueling. At the top of the trail you can see ALL of the Albertson's parking lot, and just barely make out John's Place in the distance. On our decent, Joey Sunday had a pretty scary "get off"(pictured). He was OK but a little shaken up. This trail has some very fast smooth sections that flow right into TIGHT switchbacks. Overall a fun trail, but not for beginners. I do advise you watch for these "chair-descender's" also. And start early, as this ride can take up to a minute... each way!
