12 hours too late for the 4th of July Blackstar ride
What a great morning to ride up Blackstar on the single speed 29er. Mark (Hoovermd) bought his cross single speed and while in route Hugh (HUGH) joined us on his SS 29er. By starting out at 7:30 am, the temps were perfect and the climb was done in just a little over an hour to Beek's. I raced ahead since I knew there was only one chair. 10 minutes later David (Kish Me) shows up on his SS (the one with tiny wheels). Looking to the north you could see how much cr@p was in the air ... no wonder it hurt to take a really deep breath. Those fires to the north are not helping the air quality.
Turning the big wheels downwards, we fell like sparrows... what a fun downhill. With the trail nicely packed you could really rail the turns. We felt sorry for those we passed coming up as the temps were starting to heat up. I swear, there was one rider that had his tongue hanging out! Like always, the ride was over too quickly and after hanging around for a few parting remarks, each was off to his own world. Thanks for joining me guys.. As always, much fun! What a great morning to ride up and down Blackstar on a SS with your buds....
