Ride
Strawberry Peak loop, starting/ending at Switzer Campground Riders Scott (STJunkie), Joe (JoeTruth), Victor (VTVic), Chris (Imallslo), me Five of us got together for this classic. Dunno if you know the group, but it was a laugh-a-minute, crap-talk fest. Good times! To avoid the eminent heat, we shoved off at 7:30 AM from the bottom of ACH. Beginning at Switzer Campground rather than the usual ACH/AFH intersection, we were able to get the pavement climb out early. 2/3 up the 3 mi, 1400 ft gradual FR climb, we really noticed the smoke (and smell) from the regional fires. It was pretty socked in, but continuing on I didn't notice it for the rest of the ride. Trail conditions were as good as I have seen up there. Traction was excellent. That and a slight breeze prevented the final climb from being a death march. Scott, Vic and Chris made easy work of all the climbs today. Traffic was minimal - only one other group of riders the entire day. It was only until we dropped Red Box that we saw a couple groups of hikers. Overall an awesome ride. Finished up around 12 PM. Thanks for coming out guys!

Def good times out there. Thanks for the invite last night Scott and great seeing everyone again.
Riding out of Switzers and getting the pavement climb out of the way at the beginning of the ride was a big plus for a hot day like today. The climb to Josephine saddle was tough as usual but we all managed to get up there at a good pace. There was a section on this climb where the smell of smoke from the fires was very noticeable, but we eventually climbed out of it. The views were definitely affected by the smoke as well. After a break at the saddle, the fun began at the flowy single track down to the meadow behind strawberry Peak. As Nick mentioned, the trail conditions were great. The climb on the switchbacks were for some reason a lot more manageable, even if I didn't clear a single one today. Down at Red Box I almost ate it bad at the log crossing. It was Joe's fault as he was on my @ss up to that point. The highlight for me was being able to clear the waterfall section, and so did Chris. Scott ended up doing a full OTB on this section; thankfully he was fine as there is no good spot for landing there. On to pictures... Nice RR's Nick and Vic. Let's not kid ourselves about one thing; these guys are all mutants and can climb and ride endlessly but they were still cool enough and humble enough to ride with a slow fat-ass like me and not whine about it. Yes, they waited for me at summits and yes, they tried pretending they just got there when in reality, they were most likely waiting for a lot longer then they're used to waiting. That's cool and this slow fat-ass appreciates your weak poker faces.
I was having really bad back spasms on the start of the steep FR climb and needed to stop 2-3 times to stretch out my back. It is what it is and somedays, there's nothing I can do about it. At least my chain didn't break. Okay, no more whining! ![]() I had an awesome time on this ride. The skinny wind sprite 4-some were great company. As Nick said, the smack-talking and banter started from the second I pulled-up to the second I drove off. Good to see some things and some people never change. Damn Nick and Chris; they claim they seldom ride but somehow, they kick ass on the climbs and descent like almost pro DH'ers. The conversation at Red Box was great. Get a few guys together and it's only a matter of time the topic of porn is brought-up. Scott, I prefer your pose at the bottom of the water fall with your Oakleys across your mouth and nose vs. the photo shoot you and Vic were getting into @ Red Box. We were getting very concerned. ![]() Nick, again, thanks for setting it up and keeping me in mind. I appreciate it! Also, GCBY on the post ride beers @ Switzers. Went down nicely. Good to see old and new friends. Let's do it again soon, beyotches! Send me a PM but please, no announcements. I can only take one a year. ![]() I was spent after the ride and must've drank 2 gallons of water throughout the day and evening. I guess it was a little warm out.

It's amazing what you can do with technology now-a-days, SB. Nice audio editing, focker!
![]() And what's with the close-up and the added text? Dude, I think you have too much free time on your hands. Go get in on some BG with your neighbors. I'm sure there's plenty of matches going-on.
