Default Tecolote

WOW, boy was I sad to see someone had destroyed a city built bridge last night.....I just couldn't believe someone took the time and effort to take it down. It was built with redwood, you can tell cuz whoever destroyed it broke the flats in half and tossed them in the gully and you can see the bright strong redwood. Very very sad. I was planning on putting a ladder bridge right next to the city built bridge, I figured a bridge for hikers and a bridge for bikers. Well now that I have seen this bridge taken down, why am I going to bother right? Who could have done this and why??? I mean the bridge must have been there for a year if not more, was well traveled and broken in. Someone left all the nails in place, and the wood scattered everywhere. GOD!!! WHAT ARE WE TO DO!!!

*&%#!'ing people! What is wrong with people? You are talking about in Marion Bear right? That cool little bridge at the end of the fun single track bomb run? That really sucks.

Shit I wish I knew what bridge your talking about you make it sound sick!!! lol Nah not Marian Bear Canyon, actually Tecolote.

I know there kinda the same, but if you check Tecolote is the canyon located right in the middle of Clairemont Mesa and it leads to the mission bay by the visitors center. Pretty nice ride. But yea there was a bridge for everyone, like I said the CITY built this thing and still someone tore it down. It wasn't even that fun to ride, but I was planning on building more there. Just the fact that people MUST destroy whatever they see SUCKS!!!

It was right after you drop down in the canyon, ride about a half mile or so and you'll see its just a mess.

SIK SD where do you ride usually Marian bear??

I am trying to figure out what bridge you are talking about, i live right above tecolote canyon??? But as for Marian Bear, from the parking lot go under genessee straight ahead staying on the left side there is a single track that goes up to a street. You pass over a little arched bridge but when you get to the top you turn around and fly back down over that same bridge and then continue on towards the 5, there is another cool out and back that hugs the canyon wall, it dead ends almost at the 5 but it is fun.

If you start at the Regents Road parking lot and go east about 200 feet or so there is a offshoot trail that lead south to a bridge, follow the trail up and you come out in some residential neighborhood. It is a pretty fun little trail to ride down.

That does suck about the Tecolote, I think I know what bridge your talking about. Seriously kinda weird why someone would just destroy a bridge.

Shit sounds like theres a couple riders in clairemont huh?? It was about a 6ft long bridge and at least 4ft wide, had a handrail and everything! I think I will be building a jump to shoot over the gap right there for bikers now though for sure. I mean I doubt the city would get out there for like a year. I was surprise they built the first one!

So the bridge at Marian, is it a ladder bridge for bikers usually only or a real bridge?? I'm trying to figure out where it is, I'm going to ride right now actually starting at the Genessee parking lot, I'll be there at 5:30 if anyone else wants to meet up. I plan on at least going to the 5 and back.

Another offshoot that is cool is Cobb street east of Genessee , it has a little wall kinda and some slight berms with a nice jump at the bottom. Cool to ride up and down all day. I'll have to check out that other trail you mentioned Wirk.

Do you guys know that huuuge downhill trail that probably only coyotes use? It's on Marian, you can see it from the 52, and its right at the start going West from Genessee parking lot. It's a huge single track I bet it would be sick to ride down and film it while driving on the 52! haha I wanna do that.

Anyways I'm gonna go get my bike ready be down there at 5:30, I'll have a white frontier with a Trance X2, PEACE

It's like a real bridge, that people walk across, not just bikes,

I don't live in clairemont, but I work off of Genensee. I cant ride tonight, but since my job sucks I will be at work for a few hours tomorrow. If you want PM me your number and I can give you a call when/if I can make it out there.

I'm from Riverside but I was in San Diego this weekend camping at Campland and I decided to check out Tecolote Canyon........I started on the North End and rode all the way to the end past the Golf Course.....

The ride has some nice single-track and it was nice to see all the bridges were intact and ridable........it would be awesome if the trail was linked together and not have to ride on pavement to hit the next section........especially when you reach Balboa and you have to get to the other side of this very busy Hwy......

I got to see a nice sized rattler and tons of poison Oak.........would definitely ride it again next time I go to SD.....

You call that camping??? I have some friends from San Bernardino that come down to campland every year. It's great for families. I usually join them, but it is by no means "roughing it"

lol I was just at campland july 4th it was awesome, I was on my bike with a beer in my hand the whole time!

So all the bridges are intact now huh?? That's really good to hear, yea the ride from north clairemont rec center to the end past the gold course is a fun ride, I know exactly where your talking about to cross Balboa ave, it is very sketchy and they need to clean out the tunnel right there under the rode cuz I heard you used to be able to ride through.

Either way it's nice to see people riding here, and with all the new agricultural setups they are maintaining it should be a sweet place to ride for years on.
