I had the intention of meeting the group at the Flying B for the practice today. I thought it was by Irvine Lake. I couldn't find it and since my head wasn't quite right this morning, I left my cell in my office. after driving up and down Santiago Cnyn Rd 3 times, I just went to Cooks and rode Santiago Truck Trail by myself. I wasn't feeling too strong when I got to the gate, but about a 1/3 way up I started feeling pretty good. I guess I sweated out all the poison from last night. Today was the first time I made it all the way to the flag in the middle ring of the Spot. Since there was no one to question my manliness, I skipped going up to Old Camp and just went down the Luge. The Luge was really fast with great traction. What a blast!

Hopefully the rain won't hit us too hard this week.

Yo Craig.... Lance I saw you drive past us on Santiago Canyon going towards cooks. The Flying B is off Blackstar Canyon Road then a right into the RV area.

Lance and self rode the course twice today. The first time around I didnt enjoy it too much but second time was better. Lots of steep up and downs with a pretty fun "dh slalom" section that had some good jumps.
We also ran into ocriders girlfriend who was ripping up the course today, Along with Crash Maxell riding some insane off the trail section(with a fall).

should be a fun race.

Nice shots Lance & Von Skip. I wish I could have joined you guys, but like I said I wanted to rest and not risk making myself any more sick than I already am. Hopefully I'm better by next weekends session and hopefully it isn't rained out.

I was one of the guys you were talking with just before you left.

We ended up having a pretty big turn out today. From the feedback we were getting, everybody is pretty happy with the course. We have decided to set up the laps as follows for the race:

Beginner/novice: 1 lap
Intermediate: 2 laps
Experts: 3 laps

As Lance and Kippie can attest, this is a tough course....especially at race pace.

ocriders "girlfriend"?
Are you guys trying to get Matt STOMPED!?

Lacey was riding pretty strong on the climbs, and she was real happy when Chris said she would only be doing one lap.

The "off trail section" is actually a real trail. It was REALLY fun, and needs a little work. For now, it's just a little slippery from the moss and mud on some of the rocks.

It should be a real fun event! And best of all, it's LOCAL!

Next time introduce yourselves, it would be cool to meet some of you guys.
That's how I met Gonszo.

WHOW! That is me! Thanks for pointing that out!

I was looking at it thinking it was some dude in a warrior's society jersey that actually knew what he was doing!

That little section was pretty steep too!

Is there anyway to get refunded for the race J?

On the original sign up form it stated that the race would be 2 laps for Novices. I feel misled and feel that paying almost $50.00 to ride a 5.7 mile course isn't worth it.

Not only that, but each email that was being sent out over the course of the past couple of weeks has had different information, often conflicting what the previous email had stated.

Why not step up and race intermediate? 2 laps is 2 laps.

With our novices taking about 1hr to complete the lap, the intermediates taking 45-50 mins per lap and expert riding 35-40 mins per lap. IF you are burning 40-45 minute laps for 2 laps, then you should be in the intermediate class anyway. Novices will clearly be spent after one lap. IF they are not, then they are not novices...

IF you come out and do the preride, I think you will agree that 1 lap is more than enough for novices. The decision on # of laps was based on the feedback we have been getting from the riders that actually ridden the course.

Please keep in mind that all the planning for this event was sent out prior to the completion of the course. Mostly everyone is very flexible.

Also, please be patient. This is our first event like this so we are still trying to work out the bugs. I am sure we will have it figured out by the next event.

Feel free to pass your concerns on to the Warrior's Society: avargas714@comcast.net

Thanks

Thanks J.

I'll email the powers that be with that addy you gave me.

Maybe next time when posting the lap count on the very first flyer/website it should have been noted that the Novice Division laps were to be determined. I know that I wouldn't have signed up and paid $48.00 to do a one lap race on a 5.7 mile course. I signed up for the Novice Divisoon because this is my first race I've ever done. If I were to enter the Intermediate division I know I'd get smoked for sure.

I still think the original flyer I saw was misleading, thats all. I understand it's hard to gauge Novice riders and their abilities, but the flyer/website shouldn't state that the race is going to be two laps for the Novice division if it hadn't been determined yet. Know what I mean...

Hey Jason, yeah I know it's not an open trail, that's why I didn't post any pictures, or put where to drop in from.
My point of saying that it's an actual trail was to make sure they know that I'm not just picking out "off the trail" spots to ride.
I've been in The Warrior's Society long enough to know about trail responsibilty.
