RR: Blackstar to the Doppler Tower

Today we rode Blackstar up to the Doppler Radome.
17 miles, 2400 feet of climb.

This was my first time riding this trail and all I can say is if you are thinking of riding this route... "bring your iPod". The trail is a good workout but not much else. The terrain is relatively boring. Seemed to me like a very long version of El Moro's "I Think I Can" (although not as steep) but with no single track payoff at the top.


We hit the trail about 7:30 and it was misty and cool. Highly recommended as we saw folks heading up at 9:30 with not enough H20 on-board.

until you hit the top and then you get to take a rest.

The view is nice up top...

We heard there might be a single track back down but nobody we met seemed to know anything about it


Turn around and head back down.

boring??? that's because u didn't have any run ins with art tuttle, didn't head to sierra peak and encounter some nut popping off shots from a 22 lever action at anything that moved includung u, ride it after a rain and get bogged down in the craziest of whack mud, see some freak riding his bike in only a speedo, ride it in wind conditions so strong u had to mas like a crazed bull during the dh's. congrats on making it to the golfball bu u obviosly picked a 'glass day' to ride it j/k. a lot of the stuff up there is a bit like that although a bit more challenging such as maples, harding
