Default New USA flag hoisted at the Luge and STT Trailwork

Representing the Warriors Society, Gene and I hoisted a new American flag to replaced the badly faded and tattered one that was currently flying at the top of The Luge. True, not many people see it these days since the area is still closed, but it was bugging me and Gene to see a less-than-perfect Old Glory flying.

OTH: I have the old flag and would like to hand it off to you for a proper retirement with the Boy Scouts. I'll bring it with me to the Vintage Ride this Saturday.

Once we flew the flag we met up with a couple other USFS volunteers and worked for a couple hours on the section just east of the Luge junction. This area took alot of damage in the fires and rains and needed serious work.

Here's some photos:

Gene taking the old flag down.

Folding the flag properly.

Gene with the old flag.

Putting the new flag up.

Hauling tools and bikes uphill ain't easy, or fun.

Before.

During.

Me during the work.

After. Waterbar fixed.

Tough day today, especially after doing Upper HJ in the morning. We made good use of our time up there and really moved a lot of dirt, I'm beat! Good shots John as always. Thanks for the beers at Cook's, Next rounds on me.

Gene, you are superman! 5am HJ, then this. Wow!
Seriously, this is a wonderful thing and we all owe you a beer for helping get STT and the Luge back in rideable condition. Thanks!
BTW, did you find the little notebook that was kept under some rocks at the flagpole? Is it still there?

Great work John and Gene. Any Chance I can donate a flag that has all the U.S military services on one Flag?

That is soo awsome guys, that flag deserves to be in the best shape, that flag means more then anything to some people. good job.

edit to add.

I love that flag, and put my ass on the line for over a year for that flag and all that it stands for, and it hurts my feelings to see a ratty flag over a mcdonalds restraunt, or one on the side of the freeway torn to shreds.

Yes the logbook is still there. We recently replaced the ziploc bag the houses it. Next time I will bring a fresh logbook. The current one is water-damaged.

I think that would be a great idea.

Also anyone who might have access to a 3'x5' high quality USA flag that flew in military service someplace would be greatly appreciated when this one wears out.

Cool, awesome work guys! Looks like it's turning around in there thanks to you and mother nature - great to some some foliage!

The before and after shot of the trail is amazing!
