I've actually never been down Sycamore. If you climb North Ridge, is that the turn off to the right after Gilman's peak. What's it like?

Sycamore is about a mile or so past Gilman peak. The bottom half of the trail turns into singletrack and is a bit overgrown (but rideable) at this time. It's a pretty quick way down to Telegraph.
I usually start at Carbon Canyon Park and ride up Northridge to Sycamore and then out Telegraph. It's approx 11 mile round trip. If you add in 4-Corners it's approx 15 miles.

The trail off Gilman Peak is called, creatively, Gilman Trail. That is technically closed to bikes, but there is no sign so I am not sure how anyone would know. I hear it is crazy overgrown right now. I've never been down it.

A butterfly to the face?!?
What was it, some behemoth 3lb butterfly with a 2 foot wingspan that eats rabbits?

I come around a corner and there is a huge skid mark on the trail. Chewy turns around and says, "Look what I've got," lifts up his glasses and a butterfly flies out. It was a cool parlor trick.

I've been down Gilman trail once it was the first time i actually made it up Northridge. I turned to go down that trail because i didn't know any better. It was a total blast that single track is steep and tight. it was last year so is wasn't overgrown. But you definately need to be careful down this trail.

I didn't know it was closed. Like Brewmaster says there are no signs to indicate it is closed.

Now i go down Sycamore because it isn't as steep but still a lot of fun!!

Bovinian is way overgrown at this point. I almost turned around after starting going up from 4corners. If this trail is considered open i'd hate to see what they call a closed trail over on the chino side...LOL I gues the more we ride it the more we'll knock down the tops of the weeds!!!

Beggars can't be choosers right now. Bovinian is one of the best we've got. I love the little rocky middle area.

Sounds like you did a good route, Dutch. I've ridden there dozens of times and have yet to hit all the trails. It's pure SS heaven...

Same case here....I've ridden that single track a hand full of times...very fun and pretty fast...last time was a few months back and it was wicked overgrown. Does anyone who's also ridden this know of another "legal" singletrack in the park that's comparable to it?
