Ode to Downieville

The garage is so quite and the bike is so dirty it practically has a sign that reads "wash me" on it. I look at her lovingly and whisper "wow, we had a good time didn't we?"

I look and I stare but suddenly can't see the dirt anymore, all I see is the stream we flew through, the trees rushing by and the dust that sticks to her frame, kicked up by the rider we were chasing that hit the brakes a little too heavy on that perfect Sunrise berm.

"you know the one" I tell her, the one that looked like a full trail crew groomed it just for us a minute before we hit it.

She doesn't need to respond, I know she knows.

Maybe I'll wash her tomorrow, maybe not. She doesn't seem to care and I'm not quite ready to wash the reminisce of that trail away just yet......not yet.
