Default Found a new rock garden at Lake Calaveras!

Just learned how to embed vids so I thought I'd play around with the new feature! Today was going to be a rest day but my buddy Cavan talked me into going for a "quick ride" at Lake Calaveras. Calaveras is the closest place to home so I figure why not. We started with our usual route...across the dam...to the top of the peak...down the backside...climb over yellow fire road gate...to the water tower. On the way down the backside of the water tower I came across a huge tarantula. I took a pretty good pic but I can't upload it due to some website bug. We decide to stop for quick rock ride session on the southwest side of the water tower.

Heres a shoddy video of Cavan hitting the rock ride

Then across the creek (the one with the newer bridge..I think it might be called carwash). After climbing out of the creek/oak wooded area I took a new right turn and headed towards the very south end of the Calaveras Riding area. I kept my eyes peeled for any new single track and I came across a nice short technical windy, rocky, narrow section.

I took the first crack at it and had to practically track stand a few sections but manage to clean the section. Super fun little rock garden!

Then it was Cavan's turn. He almost ripped off his derailler on the first narrow section. I was perched on a rock filming and almost fell over trying to get a better angle! (Which explains my "oh sh!t" moment) Turn down the volume if you're at work! I'm a horrible videographer and the vid sucks but its more funny than anything.

From there we humped it back along the east side near the fire road and messed around in the white dirt/bmx area. BTW if anyone has any names for any of the trails I mentioned please fill me in! I haven't heard any proper names for any of the trails at Calaveras.
