Default AZ Spring Fling day 4

Final day of our trip we headed to Sedona. By this time most of us didn't have much left in our legs so most of the pics are just of the bitchin views and scenery. A very beaufiful place and some nice trails also. It started of a bit cold and as the ride progessed some clouds started moving in and it got colder and colder. By the time we finished some light snow started falling on us. It was a great ride to end our trip and we had a nice relaxed pace just trying to soak in all the views.

This was probably my favorite picture I took from the trip.

A lot more below.

Snow flakes are a fallin.

The guys chillin.

A group of hungry and cold riders.

Time to head out and search for some food.

Dell and I following Lance and George while the snow started coming down harder.

Not done yet.

Default Sedona

Final day, boy did we luck out weather wise. It was a little chilly but no snow until we finished riding. The crazy thing was that it wasn't really that cold to be snowing. Maybe 45-50? I didn't have much in the tank for this ride and that was too bad because there was a ton of stuff to play on. Sedona is unbelieveably beautiful.

For those that couldn't make the trip this year - no pansy-ass excuses next year. You missed an incredible time. We rode some tough trails and had some great times.

On to the pic's:
#1 Rob rolling in
#2 George doing the same
#3 Matt
#4 Did I mention that the scenery is Sedona was kinda OK
#5 View from Chicken Point

Yo Rob and Cal, thanks for the photos.

Sorry I missed you guys, the weather made things confusing to hook up. I did get in 3 days riding in Sedona and one very cold and snowy ride in Prescott. If you guys get out there again I can show you the local Sedona rides.

South Mountain rocks doesn't it! but I still like Sedona more. It is nice to ride for a hour or two then drop into town, eat and ride again...the rides are so close to town....very civilized for mountain biking.

Great photos. Looks like a great time too. Admittedly, this all looks a little over my head. Were there many trails that didn't involve drops and/or really technical trails? I bet it was cool to see the snow coming down, it looks very warm in most of the pictures, and then all you guys are wearing long sleeves. Crazy.

Looks like a great time guys. You sure picked a good weekend to go, SoCal was pretty rainy.

I think my favorite picture was Rob "chillaxing" underneath the boulder. Classic.... you ought to use that as an avatar at some point. Very lost looking. Runner up has to be the last picture Rob took, driving in the sunset.

Pat, South Mtn in Phoenix will definately keep you on your toes pretty much at all times. It is quite technical and full of steps/drops both going down and up. There are easier trails but we didn't explore any of those. They had different groups of rides for different skills levels, I'm sure there is easier stuff out there. National trail in SoMo is a frickin gem though, like Craig said you pretty much could never get tired of that trail. We got lucky with the weather though, only rain we had was on our way home fortunately.

We should plan an STR trip out there sometime since we know the trails fairly well now. The Fling was fun meeting other people and all, but it kind of sucked at times having to wait for long periods of times for the slower riders.

mcgrath, you'll notice that I'm not in many of the pics b/c I'm either taking them, or freaking out on the sidelines that everyone kept nailing these monster drops!

National and Mormon were not cake walks, and I had to walk plenty of sections, but I found them do-able and tons o'fun. I certainly didn't feel like I was missing out. Often, there were so many lines to choose from that you could hit the uber-scary huck (see pics), the less photogenic but still challenging drops, or the much tamer EZ line. And other times, I just had to ease off the brakes, lean back, and let ye'ol rocky mountain do her thing!

Still trying to figure out how to post my sedona pics.......

I will be doing this ride again next year, but I'm hopeing to do Tucson too. Kathleen was saying next year they may move the time a few weeks ahead as almost every year they get rain and then the very next week it is beautiful.

Well, next year I'm going. It looked too cool to miss out on. I'm game for making a trip out there... sooner than later. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend, and we can all get out for a ride.

later.

Thankfully, what happens in Phoenix stays in Phoenix. Isn't that right, Alex?
