Friday: Got my fork (888 WC ATA...used) in and installed it for the race weekend. After installing the fork i decided to go out for a couple of drinks with my friends
. Which was a bad idea...a couple turned into a bunch.Saturday: Woke up feeling very dehydrated and tired. Drinking the night before was a bad idea . First time racing my new bike (Canfield Jedi) and was a bit nervous/excited. Practice went well overall, and the bike was still a bit hard to getting used to (in short the bike was fast...something im not used to![]() ). Sunday: Got 1 practice run in and was still tired from friday night. Raced my first run and didn't ffel that great about it but still pulled 2nd place (must have been the bike) with 4 seconds away from the leader and 4 seconds ahead of 3rd (my cousin). 2nd run...didn't feel to good at the top(tired ). Did my race run and knew i felt slower and kinda of watched to see the gap between my cousin and the guy in front of him. He came in pretty fast...so i figured i had lost my 4 second lead . Results came and i did...i ended up about 5 seconds slower my second run and my cousin was 5 seconds faster. My cousin/teamate ended up taking 2nd from me by 2 seconds. Oh wells...atleast i lost it to a teammate .I blame everything on my physical fatigue/beer/lack of sleep and not on the bike . I love the bike and i think its what kept me on the podium.Overall this weekend was great! Met some new people...Muddman and friends (didn't catch their STR handles or names) and some others. If you're on here...it was nice meeting you! See you guys at woodward! Marshall Willanholly: I didn't see you. My cousin and I had a tube and beer waiting for you. Maybe next time! ![]() (Canfield Brothers ROCK!!!! )OH...and if anyone has pictures of 213Z or 381Z (my cousin) it would be much appreciated to see them. Thanks in advance! ![]()

I also think you should move up. You're winning pretty decisively and running the expert class may damage your ego a tad, but it will improve your game as well.

Hey David - Too bad you didn't stay around on Saturday. I showed up, grabbed an IH Sunday, and took a few runs on the DH course. I had ridden a couple of courses back when I was younger, but having an 8" + travel bike is an entirely different experience! When I was done, denmother saw my face and welcomed me to the 'dark side.' Unfortunately, I had too much fun, and it looks like I'm going to be shopping for a new DH bike sometime during the year

Does anybody know this guy? Not sure if he was take pictures or video. He had some funny two-fisted rig he was pointing in out general direction.
In this picture he's on the right but I know during practice he was right next to the big rock. |

he was taking video. i crashed right in front of him (typical me) during practice. i was a little dazed so i chopped it up with him for a little. cool guy. he had some sort of rig that held a home video camera and was taking footage of riders ripping by. he said he posts his videos up on youtube under the user name smokeyben1 (if i remember correctly.) if it's not that user name it's something close to that. he said turn around time from shooting is about 2 weeks for editing so check out youtube around mid june.

times for DH and XC are now on their site,
though I don't know how accurate they are. I didn't start my GPS until I reached the street (for XC), but my time and their time are roughly the same and it's clearly not what i was told at the finish. |
