Sweet! I said before the even that I was going to enter CC next year for sure.....glad to see there should be a few more STR guys entering also. First time around I just want to finish, not so worried about getting the fastest time.

Craig, I think a Flux will make a sweet bike for that race

The VQ sells out earlier and earlier each year. Make sure to register as soon as the registration opens up. Usually in the middle of December. A lot of people ended up riding the CC because the VQ was sold out.

The tandem for the CC fishised, but I do not know the time.

My girlfriend and I were the tandem team doing CC. We finished with a time of around 7:51. Our goal was to set a new coed tandem record for the CC course, but we missed it by about 10 mins. Doh!. Sad part was we had a mechanical that cost us about 15-20 mins to fix.. We are already planning to do VQ on the tandem next year.

Congrats for finishing Mark and company on the tandem. I remember seeing you on Maple Springs.

That must be sketchy going down the Motorway and HolyJim...

Im kinda curious, do the two of you switch of, front and rear during the ride??

I've always wondered about a tandem coming down singletrack. Luckily the CC/VQ has plenty more fireroad then ST. Is it scary for her coming downhill since she can't steer and has a portion of her view blocked?

What about the switchbacks, now that has to be nearly impossible.

At Toad Festival there was a tandem climbing Holy JIM and I remeber they had to walk most of the tight switchbacks going up.

Coming down motorway was a blast. The bike is amazing stable, especially at speed, and handles the rought stuff really well. The only problem with Holy Jim is the tight switch backs and on the upper part there are some drops that we would high center on if we tried to ride them.

No.. She likes to be on the back and focus on just adding power, and she is a bit shorter than me so it would require seat height changes and stoker handle bar changes to make it work. The other team that was doing VQ was switching positions, but they were both about the same size.

I've asked her a few times if she gets scared at any point on our rides and she claims she doesn't. I try not to give her reason to so that probably helps. All out crashes to date have been pretty much slow motion tip overs to the side.

Upper Holy Jim, almost all the switchbacks are unridable for us on a tandem. On Lower Holy Jim, there are 4 or 5 that are rideable and the rest we have to stop, she jumps off the back, swings the rear of the bike around, then hops back on and we are off.

Its just a different kind of riding experience, like SS or fully rigid or 29er.. Fun stuff.

Mark.

I was thinking about the Cannondale Mountain tandem, but i talked to them and they don't recommend a suspension fork on the bike, which totally sucks, and i don't know why. it's not too bad for $2200
